The fact that he took so many shots, that they were all front-side injuries, and that only one was deemed fatal would tell me that the target was indeed attacking frontally, and that the repeated shots were necessary to stop the attack.

But you don't have to convince me. And the race-baiters, DOJ "investigators," rioters, and family apologists aren't likely to buy anything but ironclad evidence.

This is not ironclad; it's only speculation. There is reasonable doubt here, and the mob will worry that like a pit bull worries a bone.
