only for gophers and rattlers. I’m just a gal with a question and if it’s dumb, I accept that as my birthright :)

Leos are trained to shoot center mass/heart to drop an attacker, right? I see only far-right shots on the torso and none to lower-right vital organs. Nothing on the left at all. Was Officer Wilson precision-shooting to halt, not kill, or was he just an incredibly bad shot at less than 30 ft? Maybe that’s dumb to ask but I think it’s a question others would ask, too, and yes, I did read your post 179.

Hah. No worries.

Shooting under pressure with adrenaline pumping and breathing erratically (just had a physical struggle), shooting accurately is darned hard no matter how much training you’ve had. It is not ‘bad’ shooting or he is a ‘bad’ shot, he is human.

Shooting at a small target like a moving arm or leg, for instance, is an invitation to miss. . .and from there, where does the round go? It doesn’t go back into the gun, it goes downrange and maybe hits a bystander. So, you shoot center mass to kill and to ensure best odds your bullets don’t go anywhere other than the bad guy.

In combat and in other shootings, there are countless instances of people fighting and shooting even after being shot. Please note the thug did not stop until he took a head-shot.

“Shoot to wound” is no guarantee the guy will stop, and as any CCW instructor will tell you, and cops are trained in this too, shooting IS lethal force, pulling a gun and shooting IS an act meant to kill.

You willing to bet your life that you are a great shot while pumped full of adrenaline and out of breath, that you can shoot a handgun at a rapidly moving thug to disable him and he will stop IF by chance you are able to hit him?

Faced with a split-second decision, fearing for your life, you shoot and keep shooting until the threat stops.

Before you answer your own question maybe you can visualize how steady your aim might be at a rattler if you had just been punched in your good eye and your eye socket broken? All those “center mass “discussions go out the window and back to the classroom when you’re hurt and your eyes water up. I said before the cop did a great job stopping the dumbass. To a casual observer those six shots probably sounded like one noise. most likely less that two seconds total.

And by the way. remember that by all accounts Sow Belly was running and during those two seconds his Lard Buttness might have been turned slightly sideways to the cop. There’s nothing about the autopsy results so far revealed to indicate the shots were exactly from the front of the Target.

In a former life it was my job to smack the krap out of lard butts like this one. I’ve had a bird’s eye view of hundreds of lead butz like this waddling toward me at what they thot was full steam. And when they waddle they roll side-to-side, maybe 10 degrees or so, just to keep their own feet under themselves. It ain’t a pretty sight and it makes them hard to miss with a well placed forearm. I always thot I had a good day if I sent someone to a dentist for sticking his nose in my business.

So I would enjoy seeing the stick test where they put arrows into the bullet paths to see what the bullet approach angles were? That tells a lot more than just the points of impact. Although I’m gonna say that shot in the eyeball would have been just as fatal as the hit to the baby’s soft spot. And both are damm good shooting.
