Here we have the very definition of a pampered athlete whose multimillions earned in professional sport very definitely qualify him as one of the 1% he's complaining about. That's bad enough, but when he chirps that black-on-white violence has no social impact he's so far out of his depth that pity vies with contempt in response.
It matters to the individuals involved a very great deal. Individuals bleed, not classes, and society is not one big anonymous beast, some of which has black skin and some of it, white, whose rights and prerogatives orbit a membership in a class. A person who gets beaten because of the color of his or her skin is social impact, the only kind that matters. The rest of it is high-sounding pseudo-intellectual mumbo-jumbo.
See, we were very close. This is never discussed in polite society, but every white person knows it. Even the stupid liberals. OK, there may be some subset of stupid liberals who are so stupid they don’t know this, but it’s a very small percentage.

I would say “No!” I met Lew the first night he came to Milwaukee. Then he moved across the street from me. We we casual friends/neighbors. Although I disagree with him politically, I can tell you that he’s a very, very nice guy! We only talked about music, as we’re both Jazz fanatics. He’s not a dummy, he’s very intelligent, but he’s on the wrong side of the fence politically!
I don’t think there will be a race war. In this society, people are busy doing there own thing, a lot of people don’t even know this is going on. They got the remote in hand, there time to watch the tube and skip right over the news channels. Look at their ratings. Blacks are always fighting other blacks, cops, orientals, whites, Latinos you name it they’re fighting everybody. It’s always someone else’s fault too.
Just the way things are. They are perpetually at war.

I have heard many good things about him — but reading this article left me with a bad impression of his worldview.
The point that many people (on both sides) are missing is that each case is different:
Eric Garner - the man put into a chokehold (caught on video)
John Crawford - holding a BB gun in Walmart
Mike Brown - after robbing a store and, apparently, assaulting an officer
Trayvon Martin - really no comparison with the Mike Brown case, either
But, people - on both the Left and the Right - keep lumping those cases together.
BTW, there was another recent case, too - Dante Parker. Once again, it seems to be a story different from all of the others. But it’s being lumped in with them.
What about the kid in Georgia who was shot because he had a Wii in his hands?
