No, not really.... They will be charged with quelling riots and protecting lives and property. They will be keeping law and order in an emergency....Not setting up a police force.
The police and population need them at this point and I think it’s the right call. This has gone far enough.

I was one of only 3 Regular Army soldiers going through Basic Combat Training with hundreds of National Guardsmen from Indiana and Kentucky. Many weekends they were learning riot control and such while the three of us were scrubbing pots and pans for them on KP because RA troops don’t get that type of training in BCT. At least not back then.
