There was nothing military at all about the Brown incident. He was a regular police officer in a regular squad car using a regular weapon and making a regular stop.
As fir riot police having heavy equipment - this ain’t your granpa’s riot. These are coordinated, frequently involving the hiding if weapons parts in advance (to be assembled by the rioters), and always involving lower tech devices such Molotov cocktails and slingshots with ball bearings (which can kill you very nicely).
This militarization meme is all a Dem ploy to remove police presence from dangerous places so that their boys can run them. Don’t snitch, remember? Just do what your Dem thug overlords tell you.
Right on!
This ain’t Mayberry, cops have to deal with more bold criminals who have more firepower at their disposal than ever before.
Is it abused at times, yes. But I find it amazing on this forum, where the mantra is “Guns Don’t Kill, People Do”, people are focused on the kind of equipment that police have.
I am not speaking about SWAT teams, but police officers on patrol that I know, and know of, have a pistol on their hip and a shotgun in the trunk. There is nothing about them that one would call militarized. In fact when facing gangs they are seriously outgunned.
I know. What does that have to do with the excessive militarization of our police forces in general.
Are you saying the rioters in Ferguson knew in advance that a white police officer was going to kill a black teenager?
