Since the ban was imposed on 7 August imported pork used in processed meat in Moscow has gone up by 6%, Russian business daily Kommersant reports.

In St Petersburg food prices have risen 10%. That inflation occurred even before the impact of sanctions.

Yes. One of the things I took most issue with Richard Nixon on. So fundamentally wrong in so many ways.

Unfortunately there’s a concept behind it... soon they will start lifting the embargo but only for some countries... French didn’t even bother to cancel their shitty ship deal... they will suck Putin when offered the end of embargo I’m afraid.

Most of the European countries have no reason to care too much about the Russian food embargo as it is insignificant. Certainly not the French.

This Russian embargo will mostly only hurt the Baltic countries, but they are not going to give in.

Some people close to Kremlin are going to be a lot richer as it is Russia itself in charge of enforcing the sanctions so they will choose who will be able to get away with bringing food through third countries and who will not.

I know but... they might grant them rights to process and re-export products from other EU countries... they may pick another country, Hungary perhaps, Orban has become their bitch unfortunately... Don't underestimate Kremlin humanoids, they are messed up but they are not idiots, I'm sure there's more in it than we see now.

Very many Russians are happy about the embargo on western goods. It will allow Russia to develop its own industry, they say. If that’s the case, they shouldn’t have opened up their markets to western goods and companies when Ussr collapsed. Still would be driving those Ladas.
