GHWB read the polling Tea Leaves in '92 and threw in the towel. Perot pulled about 9% of the vote, leaving Clinton about 1% ahead. Basically, Bush dogged the campaign. Throwing federal charges at the cop who saved Rodney King's worthless life was no help, either.

A lot of folks were, rightfully, not buying the NAFTA BS either and Perot spoke to that crowd very effectively. GHWB can blame himself for his loss I think.
