Exactly right. He justifies the acts of the criminals.

Didn’t the late great Godfather of Soul, James Brown, once quell a riot?

Yes, in a way. Following the murder of Martin Luther King, the broadcast of Brown's concert in Boston was made available for free to local residents, to keep them at home watching the concert instead of running in the streets. That cost the city of Boston $60K, but it worked. Also, Brown interceded when police tried to stop fans from storming the stage during the concert.

Yep.

Treat it as a disaster area.... and check ID’s.

They do that in SoCal when there is a wildfire threatening homes.

Residents are the only ones allowed in or out.

I have a feeling this is going to be the kind of event that some star-crossed lovers’ son with political ambitions will say in the future, that his parents met while protesting in front of the Ferguson Meat Market, he tossed a molotov cocktail and she threw back a tear gas cannister.

This an actual store that got heavily looted, they look their generator, AC unit, etc. The owners knew the Brown family, too. Came from Kuwait during the Gulf War. Just another example of how you can make it happen for yourself, if only you work hard. A lesson that seems to be lost on the denizens of this neighborhood.)

And he wanted to use this time to spring amnesty on us, but foiled by those tea party provocateurs.

Don’t know but like I said, send all the out-of-towners back where they came from and things will back off. If you don’t live there then leave and STFU!

Well, if it’s all that bad... What does an infantry unit ask air support or artillery to do, when the unit has been overrun?

Apparently they are stopping people and if you don’t live in the area they’re sending them packing. Sounds good to me.

Well, no technique seems to be effective in quelling these riots. The heavy hand seems resented by the community, and has been condemned by the highest offices in the land. The kid gloves of the State Patrol are used to slap them right back in the face. Wrangling the journalists smacks of tyranny.

For the authorities to restore order in Ferguson would require the earnest implementation of. . . authority. However, that is the one thing that has (incredibly) been made implausible by the anti-authoritarian propaganda matrix in this historical event. It’s like some kind of double-reverse psychology in action.

So, I reckon that the optimal answer is that the authorities should not attempt to restore order in Ferguson. Let the looters and destruction and violence continue to occur under cover of “peaceful protests.” The authorities really have no duty to protect persons or property, and it appears that in any instance where they attempt to do so the DOJ will find a Section 1983 Civil Rights violation.

Many of the good people and families of Ferguson are going to have to leave sooner rather than later, if they are able to do so.

"One answer, Nolan said, rests with police, who should take the initiative to meet with nonviolent protesters, pledge to scale back some of the more military-style methods of crowd control"

If I were such a "militarized" law-enforcement-officer-soldier there and being overrun by the enemy as reported by crime and punishment fans, I would call for fire on my position. [Little clarification there for those who are not prior enlisted service combat specialty soldiers.]
