I confess I don’t know much about Governor Nixon, but from here it looks like the guy is out of his depth. He’s gone from conciliatory to calling out the National Guard to kissing the protestor’s backsides. I haven’t seen this much about-facing this fast since Obama, Hillary, and the State Department’s Yes/No/Well, Yes and No policy towards Mubarak in Egypt.
Someone on FNC last night was trying to explain Nixon’s behavior. Missouri tends to go Republican in Presidential elections (Clinton won twice but only because of Perot), but it is fairly close. The Democrats’ strength is in St. Louis and Kansas City, and they have to count heavily on black voters...so Nixon has to cater to them. Apparently he has hopes of being a VP candidate on Hillary’s ticket in 2016...although I don’t think the last 11 days have enhanced his chances.
