“We are doomed as a country and as a civilization in the USA.”
When I was going to high school in the 1950’s, my teachers had gone through liberal arts programs such as English Lit, Math, History, etc. In other words, after they graduated and went to work they were expected to have learned something that they could pass on to the kiddies. Now they get “educated” in Schools of Education. They don’t even like the word “teachers”. Now they’re called “educators”. So instead learning, our kids are being re-educated in re-education camps.
Thanks for the ping nothing surprises me about government schools anymore.
This is what happens when we are no longer allowed to beat sense into people the old fashioned way...
These school “officials”, and the idiot cop who played along, all need their asses kicked.
America is being INVADED by terrorists,
and the native children cannot either use the name
of the invaders (Islam) that will kill them, or one
of the weapons that will be used to exterminate
their families.
America does not have a chance.
Out of curiosity, where do they expect to get their next generation of bullies to pin badges to?
Sheesh. I wrote a short story in freshman english in 1974 titled, “I was a teenaged hit man.” I remember there was some gun play and I strangled some bad guy with a piece of barbed wire. I got an “A” on it.
No doubt.
The hope lies with homeschooling and homeschooling is surging with common core.
I’ve been called by two parents so far this summer who have pulled their kids from the local public school because of common core and I know of several other families who are considering it for the same reason.
The schools are getting so bad that it’s pushing the fence sitters over the edge.
Sue the city too. The arrest is completely illegal.
I’m pretty sure all of Mickey D’s parking lot is on private property. What did he think he was going to do?
There is much more to the story than is reported in this article. It is not a simple zero tolerance story, but there are details that were omitted, and that makes the school look silly. The young scholar is not blameless.
You do not know what you are talking about.
Really?
I haven’t heard the teacher deny it...
“In many cities traffic laws apply on private property such as stores and mall lots.”
Thanks,I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll have to check my area out.
.
That's a very good point. Hollywood puts out so much filth. But a high school student can't write about shooting a dinosaur without being arrested?
“A patriotic cop would have said Screw you. Im not arresting this kid. Remember, cops are not your friends.”
A great many do that; they do not make the news.
Just like there were headlines about the unit that refused to confiscate guns during Katrina.
I was wondering if there was more to the story. Like you said, though, it’s still stupid that the police were called to investigate because he wrote a fictional story about buying a gun to shoot a dinosaur. Just bizarre...
My guess is that the teachers don’t have much say and are required to report this stuff.
I share your sentiment. Home school!
Well, I’m sure the city would like to SAY they apply, but from where would the AUTHORITY to regulate it? Remember, they’re constantly justifying traffic laws by arguing that you’re on public property voluntarily.
We’re surrounded by idiots.
So, I guess all of you think any child that’s homeschooled lives in a bubble. Do you not think there might be a possibility that something the kid writes gets to the “authorities”? What I mean is that it’s just a matter of time before they start coming to your homes if this crap isn’t stopped in the public school system.
As for homeschooling itself, anyone who sends their children to public school BY CHOICE is nuts. Sadly, most parents can’t afford to homeschool.
