Sure look that way in the video. Of course, you don’t see what the people in the crowd might have been doing to provoke him. Even so, he should have kept his cool.

He was probably just repeating what dude said to him 30 seconds before dude fired up his cellphone video.

Also, that was real smart of that idiot calling the cop “officer go fv7k yourself”. Real smart when you’ve got a rifle trained on ya by a guy who might be a little stressed out. Having said all that, it does look bad for the cop.

The ability to keep your cool is a major requirement for a police officer. I worry about my son, who wants to pursue a law enforcement career. It's too easy to get him angry, and he likes to come off as a "tough guy". I'm going to remember that the next time my wife tells me I've been too hard on him.

My last line flopped with her: "By the time I was his age (25), I had been a Platoon Leader in Germany for two years, with responsibility for up to 40 men (I had both Chaparral platoons for about 9 months due to personnel shortages during the Carter Administration)."

He can't deal with a father who expects him to man up and move out of the house? He's certainly not ready to be a police officer.

Even so, he should have kept his cool.

So EASY to say, sitting in your chair, with AC on, no crowds of angry young gang bangers with guns yelling at you and trying to get close enough to punch you in the face and fracture your skull.

Like all the other BIG TALKERS on here, my guess is that if you were in the officer's shoes, you would have started firing the second the thug said "f%ck you".

I agree. But probably hard to keep your cool if someone just threw a bottle of urine on you....
