you fallaciously assume that your reading and interpretation of the Koran is universal. that makes you wrong.
I would ask how many arabs you know personally and actually think what you believe they believe.
I know Sunni Pakistanis, I know Shiite Iranians, I know Jordanian beduins (Palestinian) - they all agree that the goal of Islam is to establish a Caliphate and convert the world by the sword to Islam.
Muslims born in the USA and having assimilated into our culture are the only slight exception to that mindset.
We have the fruits of history to also judge what Islam intends to do.
