Farmer's Almanac Predicts 'Super-Cold' Winter, More Snow In Eastern U.S.

The Old Farmer's Almanac, the familiar, 223-year-old chronicler of climate, folksy advice and fun facts, is predicting a colder winter and warmer summer for much of the nation.

Published Wednesday, the New Hampshire-based almanac predicts a "super-cold" winter in the eastern two-thirds of the country. The west will remain a little bit warmer than normal.

"Colder is just almost too familiar a term," Editor Janice Stillman said. "Think of it as a refriger-nation."

More bad news for those who can't stand snow: Most of the Northeast is expected to get more snowfall than normal, though it will be below normal in New England.

As a lifelong Minnesotan, I can safely say that last winter was the most brutal I’ve ever experienced. Spring was six weeks late, and if it happens again I might just move.

I was from Grand Forks. As much as I like my old home town, I left, primarily because of the cold weather.

You’re giving me flashbacks, cripple. Bad flashbacks, not the good ones about your first kiss, or getting your drivers license. Bad Flashbacks...

In southeastern Michigan the last time we got this much snow the president was, (wait for it) Ulysses S. Grant. There were several days in January where we were colder than Fairbanks, Alaska. Do you know how many dead deer were found when the snow melted? In my area alone, hundreds. Several houses burned down because when the firefighters tried to turn on the fire hydrants they were frozen solid. That is the kind of winter that southeastern Michgan had.

“Based on the Farmer’s Almanac! Bring it!! I wanna see 10 feet of snow!”

BITE YOUR TOUNGE! I don’t want to see that here in NH. Bad enough that it is going to be a super cold winter (I’ll probably go through 7 cords this winter), I’ll be bringing in wood every other day to keep the stove going.

Didn’t we have a global warming slowdown some 10,00 years ago?

Make sure he cuts down already dead trees. There won’t be enough time for green wood to dry out before winter, and green wood smokes and causes dangerous creosote buildup in chimneys.

Oh well.. there goes “Recovery Summer 6.0” right down the toilet when the “cold weather” forces the economy to contract in Q4 2014 and Q1 2015. This is huge and series.

AGW hiding in the Atlantic. Idiots

You would think these global warming lunatics played hide and go seek in their childhood.

Unfortunately they were not taught much more than how to steal money from people dumber than themselves.

“And this prediction is based on...what?’

Probably observable climate cycles. The link between climate and sun spots has been known for centuries for instance.

Sure, “bring it”— if you are putting on the Sierra Nevada range. Will California ever have a year of adequate rain again?
