What about the apathy that the higher level techs probably succumb to when they see same level and above doing this as well as grades below them? Seriously, it is pretty difficult to watch people with less technical knowledge and hands-on experience than you get promoted over you when they are doing a lot less and not cop an attitude about it.
In most cases (and I’m talking about nearly every job I’ve held in my entire life) loafers are allowed to loaf and prosper and doers are saddled with ever greater responsibility with lackluster remuneration in comparison to the workload/responsibility level of the loafers.
If you make dumb people feel dumber, it does tend to generate fear and anxiety as well as shorten careers when the dumb person feeling slighted is your manager.
that said, I am sure there are plenty of people who just don’t want to work to begin with regardless of their level of ability to do so.
Everything you say is true, and all the more reason why ‘guest workers’ won’t solve anything.
And all the more reason to allow the free market to work. Only way to punish companies run by stupid people instead of rewarding them at the hand of government.
