In Netanyahu’s defense, he’s actually fighting a war on three fronts: Gaza, Hezbollah in the North, and Iran. The latter two fronts are relatively cold, but could flare up at any moment. Any action he takes has to take this reality into account.
Could he, in fact, be dithering? Yes, of course, but in this situation there’s a lot going on that we don’t see.
Obama is the fourth front.
There is a bigger picture, but even there what will the end game be?
Will Israel accept a nuclear Iran claiming missile defense technology advances in conjunction with the United States will protect it?
I see that as a possibility.
Taking out Hezbollah would take out an Iranian ally that could make trouble if Israel were to launch a serious military operation against Iran’s nuclear program.
There is honestly too much Vietnam in Israel’s tactics right now and not enough World War II...
I see that as a possibility.
I do not. Israel has had too much opportunity to see what 0bama's promises are worth.
I see that as a possibility.
I also do not. As good as Iron Dome is - and it is VERY good - it is not perfect (and even if it had a perfect record, you cannot count on that in the future). Less than perfection in a defensive system is tolerable when you are dealing with conventional weapons, because at most a few dozen people would die. Not so with nukes - especially if you are Israel. One nuke gets through to Tel Aviv, and the economic and military heart of the country will be gone. Nope, a nuclear-armed Iran is UNACCEPTABLE to Israel.
Here's what Israel should, IMHO, do:
1) Finish off Hamas.
2) Next time Hezbollah acts up, get rid of them. Call up 200,000 reservists, take the casualties and JUST FINISH THEM.
3) By the time the above 2 items have been finished, everyone in the general area will know - in their bones - that Israel is not fooling around any more. For all of their bravado, the Iranians wouldn't threaten Israel if they thought that Israel would strike them back, hard. Further, such boldness in protecting itself will bolster its reputation with those Arab nations (like the Saudis) that can get along with Israel due to common enemies that both fear more - and Iran is such an enemy. The moves above would cement and discussed or tentative plans for Israel to use Saudi bases for launching an attack on Iran, should such become necessary.

They were just killing him before he’d be old enough to hold a gun and shoot back. To their way of thinking, he was a combatant.
