Wait a minute! I totally oppose police, regardless of whether they are white or black, who conduct illegal searches. Unless they had probable cause that that black man was committing a crime, they had absolutely no moral or legal (per the US Constitution) right to search him.

That said, that man’s forebears did not build this country for “free,” and even if they did, what in the world does that have to do with the here and now? No one owes black people anything for what may or may not have happened generations ago (400 years is stretching it I think). This man sounds like someone who is steeped in grievance history. No one deserves anything more or less than equal treatment under the law—no special privileges or penalties regardless of race, sex, or religion.

The move from indentured servants to slavery was set down in a court case in 1640/1641.

So slavery of blacks was from 1641 to 1865. Less than 225 years. And slavery ended 150 years ago.
