Thus was the first quake in close to 20 years that actually shook me up a bit.
I grabbed by valuable camera..and went outside and listened to a few dogs barking.

Live very nearby. Almost all pictures fell off wall above fireplace. Crooked pictures everywhere. Spice rack fell off shelf in kitchen and broke.
Stuff fell off shelves around the house and in the garage.
Shot!
Scared me right awake. The poor cat ran away terrified, ripping my arm open in a panic to get under a bed.

It woke me up here in the Pleasanton / San Ramon area of the East Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. It woke up my daughter too, but not my wife, it seems. It didn’t feel like a 6.0 here, though. However, it was rolling and rocking back and forth for what felt like a long time, though. At least 15 seconds, maybe longer.

I’m glad too!
I was asleep on the couch right in the path of everything falling.

I was wondering just over half an hour ago (around 3:20 am PDT) I heard what sounded like a sustained wind gust here in Sacramento.
The 6.0 earthquake is pretty strong, especially since it happened only 10 km (6.2 miles) below the surface at the epicenter. According to the USGS web site, it occurred just under two miles west of Napa County Airport.

I live in V-town. This didn’t feel as bad as Loma Prieta(almost knocked me over)but more damage.
I watched the news in horror during Loma Prieta as the freeway collapsed on live television. OMG all those poor people.
