Egyptian Feminist Poops, Menstruates on Islamic State Flag [graphic image at link]

Egyptian feminist Aliaa Magda Elmahdy, 23, challenges the strict nature of Islam on her blog and Facebook pages. She went a step further in her protest against the Islamic State (IS) with a photo of Elmahdy and a veiled woman pooping and menstruating on the black IS flag.

Arab nations did not print the photo because the flag states “there is no God but Allah.” Elmahdy did not explain why she took the photo, but she protests Islamic laws, and IS implements strict Sharia Law. Women must wear full veils and not leave the house without a male relative. The jihadists have even forced shopkeepers to fully veil all mannequins. In Raqqa, Syria, an Islamic State stronghold, a crowd stoned two women to death for allegedly committing adultery.

The majority of Muslims do not agree with IS. Several prominent Muslim leaders and scholars have condemned the terrorist group. However, not everyone agreed with Elmahdy’s photo, including fellow liberal Muslims.

In 2011, she caused outrage among strict and liberal Muslims when she posed nude in photos on her Facebook. She claimed the photos “scream against a society of violence, racism, sexism, sexual harassment and hypocrisy.” The secular Muslims did not agree.

“This hurts the entire secular current in front of those calling themselves the people of virtue,” said secularist Sayyed el-Qimni. "It's is a double disaster. Because I am liberal and I believe in the right of personal freedom, I can't interfere."

I would defile myself to becoming a scum of the earth pornographer for sure. How many ISIS fighters did this kill? How many people did it save?

This accomplishes NOTHING but to make themselves look like pigs in a mud hole.

The women stuck in Islamist places cannot change their fate alone. The bastards who are holding them down need to be killed - like you say. Who is willing to do that for these women?

We can call these women attention whores who lack dignity. And I won’t argue with you on that; what she did is undignified. Would it be more dignified for her to watch her daughter someday stoned to death by her son because some judge claims he knows the daughter committed adultery? Or maybe it’s not her; she was one of the lucky ones who got away. Maybe it’s her aunt who is and always will be stuck in that system unless something major shakes things up. How is that shake-up going to happen? To change anything they NEED to shake the world awake. Is it a beautiful thing or a disgusting thing to sacrifice your dignity in an attempt to shake the world awake to see what is happening?

In “Horton Hears a Who” terms, what if a “yop” isn’t enough? What if it’s embarrassing to do more than a yop? What is too much to sacrifice?

These are real questions not only in the Muslim world but also here in America, where we are losing everything we hold dear while everybody looks on too afraid to sacrifice their reputation for the flag we pledge allegiance to. We let the media tell us what is “comfortable” and we live within those limits just like sheep. Nice, respectable sheep.

You didn’t answer the question, if I correctly interpret your answer as sarcasm.

I was not being sarcastic. I have zero respect for those women for doing that.

You know what would really be revolutionary??

Women acting like human beings! That would tick off the Muzzies to no end.

Maybe she thinks if she is controversial enough in life her death will be heard - unlike the numbers of women who quietly die in “honor killings”, “honor suicides”, by judicial stoning, by extra-judicial stoning, etc all over the world every day - while the rest of the world tsk-tsks but does nothing more to stop it.

In most instances, nothing changes until somebody’s life is lost and it’s visible enough to stir up an awakening. Maybe that’s her desperate strategy.

Tacky? Disgusting? Pointless? Ineffective?

We can all have an opinion about the wisdom of her actions, but it seems obvious that she is brave and that she cares deeply about the mistreatment of women by Islam.

As long as she’s making the issue visible, though, it would be a terrible waste to make it all about her “stupidity” (etc) rather than about the evils of Islam which she is fighting. If she’s going to die for what she did, at least we can try to let her death help other women who otherwise would have died in a burqa whose only crime was being a living woman that some man wanted dead.

Are you saying that the Muslim women for the past 15 or so centuries have not been acting like human beings? If they HAVE been “acting like human beings”, then why are they still stoned to death on the word of a judge who claims he knows everything?

Have we so soon forgotten Miriam Ibrahim? Was she not acting “like a human being” - that she was jailed and sentenced to death merely for remaining a Christian?

I don’t think you realize what these women are up against.

If “acting like human beings” means taking whatever the demon-god of Islam hands them, then what you are prescribing for them is insanity - doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Or are you saying they should just stop HOPING and TRYING for a different result?

What drugs are you on?

Where in my comments did you find any support for the Islamic system?

What they did debased and defiled themselves, and nothing else. They did not “stick it to the man”, they did not land a blow for women-kind. They are merely lowering themselves into the pig-sty.

What would you do instead, if you were them?

It’s easy to be the armchair quarterback. Those who are slogging it out amid blood, sweat, and tears don’t need your approval or disapproval. If you’re going to call them ineffective then offer something constructive. How would YOU change the plight of these women all over the world who have no freedom of conscience, religion, association, or any other freedom because they’ve got demon-possessed thugs holding them inside a cult - while the whole rest of the world looks on and wishes they would just shut up and stop disturbing the peace?

“A Muslim Reformation movement would be seeking to return Islam to the roots (values, practiced, etc..) of its founder - Mohammad.”

Excellent point. Well stated.

You think they had no choice but to become pornographers? That is illogical.

I’m asking you what their choices are and, specifically, what you would have done in their place.

Their choices? What does that matter? Maybe not make porn? I can guarantee you 10,000% I wouldn’t have gone the porn route. About as low, vile and dirty as it can get.

They are still alive as far as I know, and under Egyptian rule, not ISIS. So maybe the idea that they had choice is a bit stupid.

Seems like you really don’t want to think much about what women suffer under Islam, or what it would take to get some kind of justice and freedom for them. And that’s what these women are up against.

Even just for a moment having their nakedness disturb our comfortable world is more than we want them to ask of us. It’s sort of like someone else’s abused children crying, and all we can think is, “Why don’t those stupid kids shut up and leave me in peace?”

It’s sad. I wish I knew what I could do.

I’m sorry, but as much as I dislike porn, I really don’t see how we can have a video of somebody’s head being cut off in cold blood while the guy who did it acts like it’s nothing... and you still think that porn is “about as low, vile and dirty as it can get.”

I have to ask: Are you Muslim, by any chance?

I stopped feeling sorry for their perverted, demented selves when I saw the picture. There is nothing liberating or “justice and freedom” about what they did.

They want to wallow in the gutter, they can live there. That was their choice. Again they are not under ISIS rule but Egypt. Nothing you said justifies wallowing in depravity and debasement.

She has a blog and a Facebook page and the freedom to post her porn, oh how oppressed she must be.

You have no concept that she could be fighting for somebody besides herself.

I bet you don’t even realize how much like ISIS you sound.

She has a blog and a Facebook page and the freedom to post her porn, oh how oppressed she must be. She hasn’t been arrested or blocked from the internet?

She isn’t on a mountain top starving like a Yazhidi, or being sold in cages by ISIS. There is a lot of real suffering in that part of the world where they have no access to the internet and a keyboard and a porn site or whatever she goes through.

Oh poor them.

ISIS is on the march, they really oppress those they control. The last thing those oppressed are thinking about is making pornographic photographs I bet.

Put it plain these are the last of the Sandra Fluke Slutwalkers I would feel sorry for.
