Judicial Watch: DOJ Admits Lois Lerner’s Emails Exist

By Joel Gehrke

August 25, 2014 3:11 PM

A Justice Department official admitted that former IRS official Lois Lerner’s apparently missing emails actually exist on a backup server, but the government doesn’t plan to retrieve them.

“A Department of Justice attorney told a Judicial Watch attorney on Friday that it turns out the federal government backs up all computer records in case something terrible happens in Washington and there’s a catastrophe, so the government can continue operating,” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton told Fox News’ Shannon Bream.

“But it would be too hard to go get lois lerner’s emails from that backup system,” Fitton continued, paraphrasing the DOJ official. “So, everything we’ve been hearing about scratched hard drives, about missing emails of Lois Lerner, other IRS officials, other officials in the Obama administration, it’s all been a pack of malarkey. They could get these records, but they don’t want to.”

Fitton said his group plans to ask a federal judge to order the IRS to hand over the emails, which conservative opponents of Lerner want to see in order to determine if there is a link between President Obama’s team and the IRS’s targeting of Tea Party groups.

“If this backup system is working, Lois Lerner’s emails are there,” Fitton said.

No need for armed drones in Alaska, the mosquitoes will do the job just fine.

The problem with that is that we do not have a penal colony large enough to accommodate all of them!

We could re-open Alcatraz, perhaps.

Alcatraz? That is too good for them

These are all political hacks covering their collective asses.

Yes, I was a little harsh about the IT guys at IRS. I've seen a lot of politics played, and hated that. People aren't allowed to do their jobs because of political games. For instance, earlier in my career we had a failure of a major system and the application folks were panicking. I told my boss I could fix it in 30 minutes and he stopped me and let it sit broken for 2 days. I was pissed at us looking incompetent. He gave me the go-ahead to fix it after he got approval to buy a couple hundred-thousands of dollars in new storage equipment. I've seen a lot of bs played in IT and it sucked.

If the pubbies run with this then the implications could be worse than the reality. If the article is correct and i sure hope it is then the dems are damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

(from the article) :"A Justice Department official admitted that former IRS official Lois Lerner’s apparently missing emails
actually exist on a backup server, but the government doesn’t plan to retrieve them. "

That's all right ! Then everyone above Ms. Lerner goes to jail until the IRS cooperates !!
If the DOJ "JUST-US" Dept. refused to arrest , the HOuse seargent-at-arms sould affect arrest and is empowered by precedent.
Take'em all down, until they cooperate and provide the subpoenad data.
and revoked their pensions , and income ... Simple !!

Yea it’s too hard to retrieve. They only do that when it’s something important. /s

I’d say when the emails could lead to the same impeachment charges filed on Nixon for abuse of power, they are important enough to retrieve from the backup.

I guess the Feds don’t have an IT department because Congress won’t provide adequate funding. Maybe that’s the next line of idiotic excuses.

IMO.....hang ‘em after the trial and conviction. Make it public and require ALL of the sorry ass propaganda TV “news” stations to air it. This should slow this crap down in the future.

I do not want to feed these traitors one single day in jail.

No last meal except for the crap they fed us for the last 6 years. An endless audio of lies played back to them from their own words.
