Good news: 16% of people in France view ISIS favorably

Via Vox, the poll was conducted on behalf of a Russian state media outlet but the pollster itself seems credible enough. Besides, if the results are being slanted to tar western countries, why would they be slanted against France but not against the UK?

Bear in mind, per Andrew Stiles, that France is only 5-10 percent Muslim. Even if every Muslim in the country were pro-ISIS, you’d still need a chunk of non-Muslims giving thumbs up to these lunatics to get to 16 percent.

Vox notes that a similar poll taken recently in Gaza showed 13 percent said they supported ISIS. Hamasistan is less pro-ISIS than France is.

Can it get worse? It can:

I wouldn't worry too much about what 16% of any population believes because surveys show that 16% of the population pretty much believes in anything -- UFOs, a flat Earth, witches, that the Jews blew up the World Trade Center, etc.

This just shows that 16% of the population is looney or extremely misinformed. Which is a scary though in and of itself.

I know the USA is culturally European, but why do we treat these countries of Western Europe as our solid defense allies?

Cutting them loose from the USA defense nanny-state would probably be the best thing we could do to help them save themselves.

The entire public of France needs to be polled on this question.

Any who render a positive vote for ISIS needs to be summarily executed on the spot.

Hey! Stop that! You know fully well that Jewish witches drove their UFOs from underneath the flat Earth to blow up the World Trade Center.

No one knows. Part of the French state's notion of secularism (and the French state is very loudly and officially secularist) is that asking people their religion in the census or on government forms is forbidden. Apart from the National Front no one want to talk about the issue.

On the basis of this poll, if support for ISIS runs as high among French Muslims as among Saudis, we can estimate that about 17.4% of the "French" are actually Muslims (mostly hailing from North Africa).

It seems likely that greater than 16% of the population would not have the first clue what ISIS is.

France is only 5-10% muslim.

On what basis do you assert this? The French government forbids the use of religion as a category in the census and any government documents, so there is no accurate official count of what proportion of the French population (to say nothing of illegal immigrants) are Muslims (or Christians, or atheists, or Buddhists, . . .)

There is a multiplier at work when the level of Muslims in any nominally Muslim-minority country reaches a certain level. The abrasive nature of the introduction of Shariah law, even if only for the Muslim community, spreads into the non-Muslim majority, and out of fear, more than anything, a portion of non-Muslims succumb to the daily demands from the Muslims who surround them, swimming like piranhas in the close neighborhood. Not only are the non-Muslims intimidated, the ENTIRE Muslim colony is even more at the mercy of the militants, who have and use this lever on their compatriots ruthlessly.

Once you let the camel’s nose in the tent....

Meanwhile, twenty percent believe the moon is made of green cheese and a whopping twenty-seven percent are incarnations of Napoleon Bonaparte.

And statistics continue to be a relatively benign form of baloney.

A sngle individual who believes in or admires ISIS is, quite simply, one too many.
