Around 1,400 children were sexually exploited in one town over a 16-year period, a damning report has said.
The report on events in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between 1997 and 2013 found that in more than a third of these cases the youngsters were already known to agencies.
It said there had been "blatant" collective failures by Rotherham council's leadership.

She said the first of these reports was "effectively suppressed" because senior officers did not believe the data.
The other two were ignored, the professor said. The report said: "By far the majority of perpetrators were described as 'Asian' by victims."
But, she said, councillors seemed to think is was a one-off problem which they hoped would go away and "several staff described their nervousness about identifying the ethnic origins of perpetrators for fear of being thought racist".
She said: "Others remembered clear direction from their managers not to do so."

Not exactly. It refers to people from South Asia, the former Empire of India, including what is now Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, etc. I don't know if they use the term for Malays.
It thus includes Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Sikhs and Buddhists.
FWIW, the CIA lists Muslims as 4.4% and Hindus at 1.3%.
Non-trivial numbers of Muslims are immigrants from African and other countries outside South Asia, and thus aren't called Asians in India.

I take your point, but do you have any doubt that the child molesters and murderers were Muslim in this case?
Not at all. My comments were strictly linguistic. I’ve always been intrigued by the way the word Asian is used in completely different ways here and there.
To the point where immigrants to the US from the areas that Brits call Asians weren’t classified as such till recently. We still don’t use the term logically, as I believe it excludes Iranians, Israelis, Arabs, Turks, etc.
I made a point in listening to the BBC radio and TV news at 6 O’clock and they identified the culprits as being mainly of Pakistani origin. Which means the rapists are Muslims as there are virtualy no Hindus in Pakistan (1.6% of the pop. is Hindu).
What he meant, if I understood correctly, was when Muslims do bad things the politically correct media is afraid to accurately identify them as Muslims. So they use other terms. The term most often used is Asian.
It is meant to confuse and misinform the reader and therefore prevent them from realizing what Muslims are doing.
