The aircraft in question was from the Massachusetts ANG.My sister live very close to Westover AFB which,IIRC,is the state's ANG headquarters.C5’s and F-15s are always flying over her house.Kinda brings this incident closer to home.

I sure hope the guy punched out and is wandering around in the forest. But with no beacon or pinger on 243.0, that’s less likely. Birds going into mod/upgrade depot maintenenace are not always in the finest condition. Pray.

I fear for the pilot. His ELT should have immediately given his location if his chute deployed.

...Hear us as we lift our prayers for those in peril in the air...

May the pilot be OK.

FOX Radio News a few hours ago said that the pilot was on a training mission and flying “from Massachusetts to New Orleans.”

AP said there was a brief emergency call from the pilot before contact was lost. Whatever happened, it happened very quickly.

Brings to mind the longeron failure that caused the crash of a Missouri ANG F-15 back in 2007 and grounded much of the Eagle fleet around the world for several months. That pilot managed to eject, but he suffered a broken arm, a broken shoulder and other injuries. Here's a video simulation of what it looked like when that F-15 broke apart.

Too early to say what caused today's crash (with any certainty) but the early information suggests some sort of catastrophic failure that incapacitated the pilot.

I was at the Willowgrove Naval Air Station when that A-10 crashed about a half mile from the airport on a residential street. The pilot rode the plane deadstick until he could line it up with the street and ejected about 100' AGL. It took out parked cars and nobody was hurt.

We have damned good pilots, amazingly committed to the public's safety over their own.

Is the F-15 a two pilot or single pilot platform?

When was that? I used to see the A-10s flying almost every day from there, until Iraq 1. Near and dear.

I used to watch the A-10s from Willowgrove target practice at Warren Grove in the Jersey pines. Back then there were F-4s and 1-11s too.

The basic F-15 model is single seat. The trainers are duals. The F-15C is a single seat.

This is an F-15C. Single pilot. The F-15E has a two man crew.
