Don’t forget the Irish jury, who told the judge: we find the man who stole the horse not guilty!
It sounds like justice was served. All around.
Too bad they wouldn’t/couldn’t consider it justifiable or manslaughter with probation.
That would have been more effective deterrent.
That made me laugh. Thanks for posting.
Maybe the mother did.
Good point!
Gee, ya think? :)
Gotta love that double jeopardy.
When I watch a baseball game with my sons, and a pitch three inches off the outside of the plate is called strike three, they know better than to ask “How was that a strike?” They got tired of my answer: “Because the umpire said it was a strike. Look at the box score tomorrow. It will show he struck out.”
The jury did their job admirably. The prosecution had a very weak case and was probably not enthusiastic for the prosecution and the jurors probably mostly thought they would have done what the defendant was charged with in the same circumstances.
OMG, that is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. Sometimes the curbs can be pretty dangerous. lol
If Mr. Barajas needs a nice revolver to go with the holster and ammo they found in his house I might be willing to part with one of my .357 magnums...
The best evidence would appear to be the Dad's blood on the driver's car. This might help prove that he confronted the s.o.b., but not that he shot him.
Juries believe that the judge's orders of following "Legal" guidelines must be
obeyed. When in fact just the opposite is true. Sometimes it is necessary to
boldly ignore unjust laws or attempted convictions in the best interest of
fighting back a tyrannical court system.
There are judges out there who will thwart the defense during final arguments
when telling the jury that they can ignore any and all laws in their judgment of the case.
OJ juries are a big reason I'm not a huge fan of jury nullification.
I don’t like the technicality. He’s lucky. I wish the jury could have been honest and said yep, the drunk guy did the crime, he got punished man to man $hit happens. More justice less law.
LOL!
Jury nullification is one of the greatest powers the people possess.
I wouldn’t have found him guilty even if they had found him standing over the body with a smoking gun.
After I got done laughing, my first thought was if the heisted laptop was damaged in the fall.
