I was told yesterday that olive oil couldn’t possibly be healthy because it’s 100% fat.

I was told yesterday that olive oil couldn’t possibly be healthy because it’s 100% fat.

Natural fats are healthy. The body knows how to process them and expel them. "Manufactured fats" such as hydrogenated fats the body doesn't really know how to process effectively, so some percentage of those hydrogenated fats are kept and stored.

Hydrogenated fats, along with processed sugars and processed starches have contributed much to this country's obesity problem.

Atkins diet removed those very things shifting to a protein based diet and natural/organic fruits and vegetables.

Think of it this way: if you're eating something that's NATURAL, your body knows how to use and process it. If you're eating something that's manufactured/processed not so much.

Who ever told you olive oil isn't healthy? I struggled with weight my whole life, finally got where I should be just over a year ago. Seasoned fresh vegetables sauted in olive oil have become a major part of my diet.

I do avoid milk fat, totally. Some nutritionists say that the antibiotics used in processed milk settle in it. Besides that I read some offbeat theory somewhere that milk can cause lungs to clog up. Still eat meat, but simply prepared and high quality. Grains...only 100% whole grain.

It is a small chain fat, just like coconut oil is. Other fats have long chain fat. Canola is not a good choice. Nor is margarine it is hard to digest as it is a synthetic. And I never saw where it tasted good. Give me butter, I’ll just eat less of it.

It also goes to the amount you use. Small amounts over the course of the day works well. Your body needs it most in cold months to help you stay warm. It is slower to burn in your body than a carb or sugar is. Those are fast burners.

Nor do you need to eat by the clock. Eat when your stomach says it is hungry. Eat slow, and you will gain less weight. We eat 2 meals a day, maybe a small snack mid day. Hubby more than I needs the extra. Then he is more active. So I keep portion controlled stuff for him to eat.
