In addition to defeating conservatives throughout this year, the goal of the Establishment has been to nominate people that will support McConnell for leader. Tillis, Perdue, Gardner, Daines, McFadden, Rounds, Capito, Wehby, Brown, Lankford, Sullivan, as well as protected and renominated Graham, Cornyn, Alexander, Roberts, Cochran and Enzi will all vote for McConnell.
That’s why it was important to defeat McConnell in the primary, but they successfully prevented that, so he should be taken out in November. If not, we’ll get more of the same failed, anti-conservative, pro-liberal, leadership.
Bevins was an inept candidate with an enept campaign. He got hung up on some things he should have been prepared for (his signature on those business documents) and shot himself in the foot at least once (the cockfighting rally mess). The guy simply couldn’t fight his way out of a political paper bag.
A decent candidate could have knocked McConnell out in the primary. Unfortunately one failed to show up. Compare/contrast with Brat (who won) and McDaniels (who got robbed).
