The mainstream media put Odumbo in office with their 24/7 campaigning. Now they are finding out that Odumbo’s buddies are beheading some of their own reporters! AND THEY KNEW WHO ODUMBO’S BUDDIES WERE!

With all due respect, he was about to be killed anyway and he knew it, so why repeat that? Why not launch into a few expletives like you, ISIS’ will pay for this

I heard on a radio show (Armstrong and Getty) that the reason the captives do this is that the ISIS guys repeatedly tell them that they will be executed many times over the course of months. Each time, they bring them out to the execution grounds and force them to give their little speech.

They are probably tortured until they say what their captors want to hear. But every time, nothing happens and they are brought back to their cell.

When it comes time to actually kill them, the journalists don't know that it's really going to happen. They think it's just another dry run, so they say what they are supposed to say to avoid being tortured.

I don't know where they got this information from, or if it's true, but it could be an explanation.

There was a US general — I think he was in the Philippines — who had a strategy for dealing with people like this. I can’t remember his name. Maybe someone can fill in the blanks?

Think the fact that they keep killing journalists might finally force the MSM to turn on Obama...

The MSM was shocked Obama went back to playing golf after Foley was killed. That might have opened their eyes a little...

The war in Iraq started in 03......the ROE were NOT as you state.

I was there in 04. When we cleared Al Fallujah in November of 04......about 3000 dead terrorists in that city alone during two weeks would disagree with your assessment of the ROE.

I was there in 06......that was NOT the ROE.

I was there in 07....there was relative calm in Al Anbar, yet if you or your Marines were under threat, ROE = shoot to kill.

I was there in 08......the ROEs were the same.

We just weren't going to start firing willy nilly or leveling a city block over 5-6 guys.

I'm not sure where you're getting your information from, but it starkly contrasts with the ROE briefs I had to sit through before nearly every single combat patrol or raid.

From ADs who were there as well including someone who I am intimate with, a head shrinker who treated PTSD and various other civis policy wonks.

As far as non-ancedotal there are plenty of other studies and assessments on the record. This came out right before the surge...

“More than one third of all Soldiers and Marines continue to report being in threatening situations where they were unable to respond due to Rules of Engagement (ROE). In interviews, Soldiers reported that Iraqis would throw gasoline-filled bottles (i.e., Molotov Cocktails) at their vehicles, yet they were prohibited from responding with force for nearly a month until the ROE were changed. Soldiers also reported they are still not allowed to respond with force when Iraqis drop large chunks of concrete blocks from second story buildings or overpasses on them when they drive by. Every groups of Soldiers and Marines interviewed reported that they felt the existing ROE tied their hands, preventing them from doing what needed to be done to win the war”.

Wikileaks has all kinds of assessments of documented "handcuffs" as well but I am not linking anything from there. "Interesting" how more force cleared pathways in the beginning and in 2007.

In what universe is Obama’s policy an improvement???

I mean as long as we are talking without too many details, I’m curious to know what any Obama policy is, on anything...

In what universe is Obama’s policy an improvement???

Who said it was an improvement? Not me.

Obama is radically worse than Bush, in every respect.

However, Obama is also the creation of Bush's decision to fight a Vietnam war in Iraq and Afghanistan.

If there were American governors in Riyadh and Islamabad by Christmas 2003, there would be no Obama administration. There would be no Obamacare. The military would not be gutted. ISIS would not exist.

Oh my. I feel awful for his family, and for out country. I just saw Obama READING an emotionless statement. He can’t even speak off the cuff? What kind of reptile is he?

Hard to be emotional when you are trained to speak in cadences when giving a public speech. The Pres tried but the end result seemed rather disingenuous. Still millions get off on the hypnotic cadences which is common lingo for political BS artists.

Thanks for posting it. For any who don’t want to watch, they don’t show the whole thing, but Mr. Sotloff does appear to struggle near the end when it is far too late.....

They can be heavily sedated or else they’d be screaming like Nick Berg did. I didn’t watch Nick Berg but I’ll never forget his blood curdling scream.

That right. When we decided to fight Iraq like we fought Nam, we got the same assed results. When we let them put in their Constitution, NO LAW SHALL CONTRADICT ISLAM... we put our troops in to fight for islam ......and Iran loved every minute of it.

Ok, I see what you are saying here...

If Bush had not only rolled on Iraq and Afgahanistan, he should have also rolled up on Saudi Arabia (Riyadh) and Pakistan (Islamabad) as well...

That way Obama would never had come to the forefront of American politics, introducing all sorts of domestic economic and social killing programs like your ObamaCare (ACA) and 17-18 Trillion dollars of debt...With no way to pay it all off now???

Okay, I can dig it...

How were we supposed to know the acts of a previous administration were going to foster this type of ridiculous situation we are in now???

And if this were true, why did so many stupid people vote this schmup into office...TWICE!!!

Were did “we” go wrong??? And who is “we”???

I only ask that to spur additional “adult” discussion...

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to irk you, or get a rise outta you either...I’m just lofting the ball back into yer side of the court...You know that’s my intention on these discussions...Nothin’ personal or vindictive...

This is how Steve rolls...;-)

No.

The enemy center of gravity is Saudi Arabia-Pakistan.

Afghanistan needed a punitive expedition for hosting OBL. I would have nuked Tora Bora in December 2001 once OBL was confirmed to be there.

Saddam was wearing a big "kick me" sign when somebody's ass needed kicking, but he would have been a much better ally than enemy.

I really have no idea why we took out Saddam instead of going after the real enemies. Once we nuked Tora Bora, Saddam and Bush would have been besties the very next day, and we could have had Saddam roll on Saudi/Yemen while India took Pakistan, with US SOF and Navy support.

That we are still hacking around in Trashcanistan after thirteen f***ing years is proof of a serious strategic misconception.
