Report: NFL Asked Teams to Sign Michael Sam to Avoid 'Nightmare Situation'
Breitbart Sports ^ | 9/4/2014

The NFL was reportedly scared of the mainstream media blowback that it would receive if Michael Sam, the league's first openly gay player, did not make a team.

When the Rams cut Michael Sam last weekend, the NFL reportedly called teams to inquire if they had "evaluated Sam as a possible practice squad player," according to a report from MMQB's Peter King.

Before Thursday night's NFL season opener between Seattle and Green Bay, King reported that Sam and the NFL eventually avoided a "nightmare situation" when Jerry Jones and the Cowboys ultimately signed him to the practice squad.

What many people don't realize, is that professional football has been in the crosshairs of leftists since Teddy Roosevelt was President. Liberals don't like the sport, it represents individuality, personal achievement, and belief in God. So the leftists have attacked the NFL through several different phases

Use homosexuality
Exploit former NFL players to get money
Warn kids and their parents (future football players) about the "dangers" of the sport

The NFL will be obsolete by 2020

That’s ok, don’t forget, soccer is “gay.”

No kidding. I am sure that's why liberals and Euros love it.

I made this call on some sports board the day Sam was let go by the Rams. I’m sure many others had the same idea because it shouldn’t be surprising at all.

No skills, just gay, so yeah...I think your on to something.

So can we expect a hospital to hire a gay butcher to be a heart surgeon just so they have a gay person on staff??

I remember when players were drafted because they could play football.

I was hoping the Redskins would sign him so I could watch the heads explode on ESPN

I imagine many players are upset about being on the field with a homosexual. Football is a contact sport. You know, cuts, scrapes, blood. I guess it is also un-PC to be concerned about AIDS now. People are even demanding that homosexual men be allowed to donate blood. We live in an insane world. Insane and on a bullet train to hell.

He’d fit right in (pun intended) in San Francisco.

Never mind if he can play — he’s gay and the NFL is politically correct.

I was pleased that the Rams gave him his chance and that they let him go when he wasn’t good enough. IOW, they treated him like any other football player. I am not pleased with this, but I’m not surprised by it either. Goodell is a waste, just like his daddy.

I suspect Dallas now will get to host the next Super Bowl that comes up for a vote.

Still think if any city ought to have a team named the Packers, it should be San Francisco.

I know Michael and as good as he was at Missouri he deserves a shot at the pros.
Time will tell whether he's good enough but nothing wrong with giving him an opportunity.
I believe he was VERY ill advised by his agent to make his announcement as being gay the way that he did because it came across as trying to force the NFL’s hand. He's not and wasn't going to be the first gay player.
There would have been nothing wrong with him being an unrestricted free agent had he not been drafted and I really believe Rams did him a disservice by drafting him because it eliminated opportunity for any team to get him.
The Bengals, Browns, Bucs, Dolphins, etc, are great development teams and are great career teams to begin with.

that is the lines of the left.

This is about a sexual hedonist/predator. This is about the left and the limousine liberals attempting to normalize hedonism.

This homosexual is taking the spot of a more qualified individual SOLELY because he advocates playing with the genitalia of members of the same sex. He is getting a special right at the expense of merit.

That is just wrong on so many logical and reasoned levels.

What does the National Felons League actually have to do, what line do they have to cross, before people stop watching and supporting them? Animal abuse hasn’t been too much to swallow, nor the open and frank support by the NFL of domestic abusers, accused murderers, nor an AA program for “minorities” of many kinds. What line do they need to cross before grown people decide that watching these thugs chase a ball around isn’t worth their support?

I hope I’m not the only who thinks this story may have been spun a little too hard...

I have a hardtime believing Sam being cut and not picked up was a “nightmare scenario” to the NFL....

The NFL is a multi-billion entity that spends millions on marketing....

I am sure they understand the homo lobby aren’t ardent football fans and Michael Sam is a bump in the road....over a 16 game schedule. ...
