Why were you threatening people?

What makes you think I was threatening people?

So glad you are psychic enough to know what the cops were thinking. Perhaps you can sign up to be a witness in court

Their first information was someone brandishing a gun.

You are kind of making my point.

Their first information was someone brandishing a gun.

So, if someone called the police and said, "Nifster is brandishing a gun," then the police can over and shoot you? Especially if you have something in your hand that might possibly be a gun?

Basically, you are saying the government has the right to kill anyone who has something in their hand that might be a gun.

By the way, I have seen children with toy guys in their hands before. Some pretty realistic ones. But stupid me, I didn't shoot them before, "the first bullet."

Perhaps someday someone will invent a device that can “magnify” whatever they’re looking at.

When/if they do invent these amazing things, I suggest they be called “binoculars”.

Good question. The police need to be able to answer that question correctly so they can save a life rather than ending it. In this case, the girl was waving a cordless drill around, pulling the on/off trigger and making the drill spin. The police should have heard it spin and thought through the situation. It would have told them that the woman was having a mental breakdown and unable to respond to direct orders. Then, the procedures for life saving should have been employed because no one was in danger of a cordless drill.

In the video, I heard the sound of the drill. It was not a matter of psychic second guessing. It was is a matter of why they ignored that cue. It was a rush to use lethal force rather than thinking through the situation.

The appearance from inside ones house would appear that the woman had a weapon. However, outside they would have realized it was a drill that went bzzzzzzz! Bzzzzzz! every time she pulled the on/off trigger. Then, they would have watched a girl doing bazaar street theater instead of calling 911.

That name may offend the LGBT- community.

People dislike enormous urban criminals, sure, but it is.incidents.of THIS type that dampen middle-class support for the cops in Ferguson-type scenarios.

A healthy society needs.to be able to.trust and like the cops, and dog/retard/oldster shootings simply make that impossible.

I don’t know about “obvious” - that is stretching it.

The first step is going to the 9-1-1 system and seeing if the address had a note on a female with mental illness. If not, and the police showed up with little to no knowledge...and the black power drill being pointed at them...hard one...

I roll out with DeWalt. If anyone shoots me while I carry my bright yellow power tools, they will have done so because I’m too conservative, not because I’m a threat heh.

You can’t get a mentally ill person help like that anymore. Thank the trial lawyers for shutting down all the mental institutions and putting the mentally ill on the streets.

Sad day for the family, but this gal wasn’t meant to be walking around in public.

According to the story she was shot outside her home.

She wasn’t safe.

Yes no telling how many people she might have drilled to death. </sarcasm>

Where's the fun in that?

She wasn’t safe.

Obviously she wasn't safe - the public gives idiots badges, guns, and ahthoritay.

Very few are safe from stupidity like that, as it can strike at any moment. And it comes from a lack of accountability. So long as police are able to get away with things like this with no accountability, they will continue to occur.

Tell me, why do the police in the U.S. have less restrictive Rules of Engagement against US than U.S. troops in a war zone fighting terrorists?

It may be just poor reporting but if she was threating to kill her parents we can assume they called the police in which case there should have been a little better communication if there was any intelligence there at all.

But if it said who called the police I missed it.
