Then the President will have to work with Congress to the benefit of all involved.

Not really, he don’t need no stinkin Congress...he got a pen and he got a phone, according to him anyway.

The problem with illegal aliens taking jobs from American citizens now extends all the way to the White House.

Re: “They can’t get visas for years because Congress drastically reduced the number of H-1B visas.”

Really?

Can someone provide a link for this claim?

Can someone explain why salaries for software engineers have been stagnant for 15 years, but, at the same time, the USA has a “shortage” of software engineers?

If there is a “shortage,” shouldn't salaries be going up?

Re: “If you get an advanced degree we want you to stay here...the visas are not going to the intended graduates.”

BULL!

Almost 100% of Ph.d graduates with a STEM degree can get an instant 5 year visa.

However, 80% of elite foreign graduates, from elite schools like MIT, do not stay in America.

They return to their home countries, in western Europe, in Japan, etc., where their pay and standard of living is as good or better than they can get in America.

Instead, America keeps 80% of the second tier foreign grads, who went to second tier grad schools, and who come from countries like China and India.

The reason?

Those guys want US citizenship, and they will gladly work for low salaries to get it.

And, they compete directly against native born American Ph.d’s for the same jobs.

“Winston stated he agreed with what Mitt Romney had said, “If you get an advanced degree we want you to stay here, so I’d staple a green card to the diploma of anyone that gets an advanced degree here.””

Sure. Let’s fill up our best industries with foreign nationals. That’s worked so well in the past. Why would ever want to encourage Americans to get good employment.

RINO-oriented piece. Absolute nonsense that the Gang of 8 bill ‘solves’ almost all of these problems. And curious how border security, ID theft, tax fraud, and DUIs by illegals that go unpunished somehow escape this article’s description of the ‘problems’ immigration causes. The author and his lawyer subject simply don’t care. This article could have been a U.S. Chamber of Commerce press release.

” Last year, there were about 172,500 applications made with just 85,000 accepted. Many people have advocated a change in the system to lift the cap on these visas.”””

Okay. So, just because we have more applicants than positions we should simply raise the number allowed? Pure idiocy.

Oh, this whole article is based on a discussion with an immigration lawyer. Jeez, what a waste of time.
