You didn’t mention Belgium, which is basically a couple of very different countries scrunched together.
Pass it and then find out what is in it!
lol
And then Scotland will probably join the EU, some independence.
Ukraine was fine until they dumped their corrupt ruler and Mad Vlad decided to take it apart
If you don’t understand what “independence” is than you’re a bigger moron than I thought.
Do you really need the concept explained to you?
In theory, maybe, but the kind of people who run political parties in Scotland and the kind of people who run political parties in England are the same kind of people.
You could say that Irish independence was a great step forward for freedom and self-rule, but in recent years it seems like Ireland's politicians have tended to be even more pro-EU than Britain's.
Split the UK up into halves and each half will be weaker and more dependent on the European Union -- Scotland almost certainly more so than Britain.
In this case, “independence” means being ruled directly from Brussels
I agree splitting Britain will almost certainly have Scotland clinging to the EU. I have a couple of Scottish friends and they tend to see this almost like a Mel Gibson moment - bless their naivety - like kicking back at their English overlords who act like royalty not politicians!
“You didnt mention Belgium, which is basically a couple of very different countries scrunched together.”
I didn’t mention it because the person I was responding to already did...
I probably meant break-off’s: (4) Canary Islands of Spain (locals have been discussing this for two decades), and (5) Brittany of France. I watched some Wales political figure the other night even suggesting that they might go next.
The big issue here is the snowball effect. Once started....within twenty years...you could see a dozen “new” smaller states in existence. The Germans even have the Bavaria crowd who could whip up in a frenzy and suddenly go out on their own.
You are correct. I hadn’t heard of the Canary island movement, but you are right about Brittany, Catalan, Basque region, Wales, Flanders joining Nederland, Bavaria and possibly the saami areas. I also recently read about Sardinia wanting to leave Italia
