Actually, that is your own minds eye extrapolating. He WAS speaking back to the “christians” that were publicly rebuking him for his charitable effort.
Yes, he is still ardantly against illegal immigrants. Yes, he offered charity to those children that had arrived and he said that they MUST BE SENT BACK. His charitable organization was providing food and soccer balls. In fact, others attacked him for those exact words.
His position was to have a hard head regarding the policy, but a soft heart for the individuals while they are here.
That said, I still did not find it MY calling to give to that charitable effort.
What his charity did is no matter. At the time he questioned the spirituality of nongivers, he specifically said he was not sure what they would do.
