Sure, there are assumptions he makes that are cringe-worthy—but the questions about how to attract more white fans were entirely reasonable.
Well, the pitchforks are already sharpened and the torches lit anyway, so rather than let them go to waste why not drag another so-called racist before the Court of Public Opinion and see how much ratings-grabbing, head-shaking, race-shaming we can squeeze out of it. After all, the media got so much gleeful, hand-wringing mileage out of Don Sterling and Michael Brown.
The only problem is that Atlanta Hawks controlling owner Bruce Levenson is no Donald Sterling. Nor is his email racist. In fact, his worst crime is misguided white guilt.
I read Levenson’s email. Here’s what I concluded: Levenson is a businessman asking reasonable questions about how to put customers in seats. In the email, addressed to Hawks President Danny Ferry, Levenson wonders whether (according to his observations) the emphasis on hip-hop and gospel music, the fact that the cheerleaders are black, the bars are filled with 90 percent blacks, kiss-cams focus on black fans, and timeout contestants are always black has an effect on keeping away white fans.

Cassius Clay was a great American and a great Republican.
I admire his daughter as well. While she campaigned for women's suffrage, she was opposed to a Constitutional amendment to achieve it. She believed the franchise was a state issue, and that women's suffrage should have been achieved on a state-by-state basis.

I agree. Email was all about an owner trying to figure out why they aren’t selling more tickets. It wasn’t racist. He was laying out the facts.
From my experience, Levenson correctly assesses that the overall Hawks game experience is aimed solely at black fans and is not attractive to the white males that are largely missing from the stands. It's not because white males are afraid to go to a Hawks game, but because it's just not a pleasant experience for most whites and they just don't want to go. It is an entirely different culture from mine, and not an attractive one at that. I am simply not interested. Levenson hit the nail on the head.

The Hawks are a perennial playoff team and constantly near the bottom in attendance. Levenson will take the money and lol all the way to the bank all the while patting himself on the back for copping to his white guilt. You can not make this stuff up! :-)
Forbes has Levenson paying 208 million for the team in 2004. The valuation now is supposedly 425 million.
Whatever it is, I don’t think he’s going to get the jackpot that Donald Sterling got.
... And if he does, you’ll see more team owners self confessing to be racists.
I thought of that, but I figure if it’s ok to call Cassius Clay Ali, Kareem can be called whatever he wants, too.
