Sure it’s possible that life forms were changed by the Fall.
But is there any indication that’s what actually happened?
Augustine addressed this in the 4th century. I’ll see if I can dig up his opinion on this.
You might save yourself the research as I’m much more inclined to follow the Bible even when an assumed expert such as St. Augustine says something contradictory.
For my money these folks are just trying to compromise with the worldly experts rather than continuing to wrestle with God’s remarks.
