Philippine Leader Proposes Autonomous Muslim State To End Rebellion

By CAROL J. WILLIAMS

Philippine President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday urged lawmakers to swiftly enact a law granting autonomy to the Muslim region of Mindanao to quell more than 40 years of rebellion that has killed at least 150,000 people.

The proposed law is modeled on one that pacified a similar Muslim insurgency in neighboring Indonesia's Aceh province in 2005.

Philippines Muslim rebellion Philippine President Benigno Aquino III applauds the presentation Wednesday of a bill to create an autonomous Muslim state within the predominantly Roman Catholic country. (Jay Directo / AFP/Getty Images) Aquino asked his political allies who dominate both houses of the legislature to pass the bill as soon as possible to give the region — to be called Bangsamoro, or Moro Nation — time to hold a referendum on the new status and organize local elections to coincide with the next national vote in 2016.

The southern island of Mindanao, its Zamboanga Peninsula and nearby Sulu archipelago have been scenes of violent insurgency among the Moro populations since 1970. An Al Qaeda-affiliated extremist group known as Abu Sayyaf carried out kidnappings, beheadings and bombings in a bloody campaign for a separate Islamic state. The group has been tamped down over the last decade to a few hundred militants. U.S.-trained Filipino troops got the upper hand against the most radical insurgents with the aid of some fighters from more moderate Moro factions.

"The autonomous Muslim state the islamists have in mind is called The Philippines."

As a stepping stone to the entire world. The entire world must be under sharia law. That is the specific goal of islam.

Islam will never be satisfied until all of the Philippines are Muslim saddled with Sharia law.

All the non-Muslim faiths and their churches will be razed to the ground ISIS style and their women subjugated to wear the burqua and be raped. No more Miss Phillipines contests in these large islands.

Mindanao reminds me of my childhood days and WWII. It was often in the news in those days.

So just when they tamp the terrorists down to a couple hundred - they decide to surrender? Must have gone to the Obama School of Appeasement......

If it weren’t for the wonderful Filipino people, I would say that is a good place to put them.

It won’t quell the rebellion, just moves it outside the autonomous region after the surrender.

The southern island of Mindanao, its Zamboanga Peninsula and nearby Sulu archipelago have been scenes of violent insurgency among the Moro populations since 1970.

I was in Zamboanga in '75 as a travel writer on a press trip sponsored by the Philippine government and PanAm. Reporters we met at a party in Manila were amazed they were taking us to Zamboanga, as they hadn't been allowed to go there for years. Too dangerous, plus the Marcos government didn't want it widely broadcast that Zamboanga was fighting for its life with the Moros (Muslims) and not always winning.

Our travel guides in Zamboanga were the biggest Filipino guys I'd ever seen (bodyguards), and our big dinner was at the Navy base. Seated between the head of the Army and the head of the Navy of the Southern Philippines, I learned after several drinks that they didn't dare leave the base to take us to dinner at a fancy place or "we'd all be killed."

I was too starry eyed at the time to understand the real story and now wonder how many other places that tourists go might be very dangerous at this time. Friends are taking a Mediterranean cruise soon with a stop in Alexandria, Egypt and then Antalya, Turkey. Pre-Isis, I wasn't worried because tourist dollars are so important to these countries….but with ISIS unleashed, who knows?

The island of Mindinao is 80% Christian.

No wonder young Filipinos admire Marcos and disdain current leaders.

This has never, ever worked anywhere it has been tried. Nevertheless, we have the triumph of hope over experience again. And, predictably, the results will be the same — more fighting and more killing. Muslims are a deranged 1,400+ year old death cult blight on humanity.

You cannot appease Muslims/Islam without first dying. And if by chance in the future
Islam rules the world they'll kill each other off until there is only one man standing.

And the last Muslim standing will be so bloodlust that he'll construct a
guillotine and cut his own head off.

Is the world just plain stupid?
An interesting questionnaire for Palestinian Advocates

By Yashiko Sagamori

If you are so sure that “Palestine, the country, goes back through most of recorded history,” I expect you to be able to answer a few basic questions about that country of Palestine:

1. When was it founded and by whom?

2. What were its borders?

3. What was its capital?

4. What were its major cities?

5. What constituted the basis of its economy?

6. What was its form of government?

7. Can you name at least one Palestinian leader before Arafat?

8. Was Palestine ever recognized by a country whose existence, at that time or now, leaves no room for interpretation?

9. What was the language of the country of Palestine?

10. What was the prevalent religion of the country of Palestine?

11. What was the name of its currency? Choose any date in history and tell what was the approximate exchange rate of the Palestinian monetary unit against the US dollar, German mark, GB pound, Japanese yen, or Chinese Yuan on that date.

12. And, finally, since there is no such country today, what caused its demise and when did it occur?

You are lamenting the “low sinking” of a “once proud” nation. Please tell me, when exactly was that “nation” proud and what was it so proud of?

And here is the least sarcastic question of all: If the people you mistakenly call “Palestinians” are anything but generic Arabs collected from all over — or thrown out of — the Arab world, if they really have a genuine ethnic identity that gives them right for self-determination, why did they never try to become independent until Arabs suffered their devastating defeat in the Six Day War?

I hope you avoid the temptation to trace the modern day “Palestinians” to the Biblical Philistines: substituting etymology for history won’t work here.

The truth should be obvious to everyone who wants to know it. Arab countries have never abandoned the dream of destroying Israel; they still cherish it today. Having time and again failed to achieve their evil goal with military means, they decided to fight Israel by proxy. For that purpose, they created a terrorist organization, cynically called it “the Palestinian people” and installed it in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria. How else can you explain the refusal by Jordan and Egypt to unconditionally accept back the “West Bank” and Gaza, respectively?

The fact is, Arabs populating Gaza, Judea, and Samaria have much less claim to nationhood than that Indian tribe that successfully emerged in Connecticut with the purpose of starting a tax-exempt casino: at least that tribe had a constructive goal that motivated them. The so-called “Palestinians” have only one motivation: the destruction of Israel, and in my book that is not sufficient to consider them a nation” — or anything else except what they really are: a terrorist organization that will one day be dismantled.

In fact, there is only one way to achieve peace in the Middle East. Arab countries must acknowledge and accept their defeat in their war against Israel and, as the losing side should, pay Israel reparations for the more than 50 years of devastation they have visited on it. The most appropriate form of such reparations would be the removal of their terrorist organization from the land of Israel and accepting Israel’s ancient sovereignty over Gaza, Judea, and Samaria.

That will mark the end of the Palestinian people. What are you saying again was its beginning?
