Germany is not ruling out military action against Islamic extremists Isis in Syria, following US President Barack Obamas announcement that airstrikes against the terror group will be expanded into the Middle Eastern country.
I won't rule out [German participation] in these airstrikes, Philipp Mißfelder, foreign affairs spokesman in the Bundestag for Chancellor Angela Merkels Christian-Democratic (CDU) party, said on Thursday morning. [ ]
Germany might also send units to take part in aerial surveillance and allow flights over its territory to and from the conflict zone, Mißfelder said, but added that deployment of ground troops from the West as a whole was out of the question.

In fairness, the bulk of any forces would come from us. The Won has already told everyone ground forces would not be deployed.
it would be hard to destroy with airstrikes alone unless you go round the clock carpet bombing. There will have to be boots on the ground at some point.

The Germans were involved with the Spanish Civil War for military practice.
Perhaps getting involved with this ISIS problem will provide the practice they may need to possibly face Russia in the near future.
I don’t dispute that, but I’m not he CiC. They’re expecting cooperation between the Sunni, Shia, and Kurdish factions in Iraq against a common foe. Good luck with that.
