U.S. jobless claims rise unexpectedly, but still at pre-recession levels

The number of Americans filing new claims for unemployment benefits unexpectedly rose last week, but that probably does not signal a material shift in labor market conditions as claims remain near their pre-recession levels.

Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 11,000 to a seasonally adjusted 315,000 for the week ended Sept. 6, the highest level since late June, the Labor Department said on Thursday.

Claims for the prior week were revised to show 2,000 more applications received than previously reported.

Christmas season is approaching. Stores are hiring stocking for the holiday rush. It happens every year.

However, this year I expect fewer to splurge on presents.

“Unexpected”, the MSM’s favorite word when reporting on Zero’s administration.

...claims remain near their pre-recession levels.

What the hell does this mean? Instead of saying "nothing" like they did here, why not say either the time period being discussed or better yet, the unemployment rate. As I recall, Obozo promised us that before the end of his first term, he would cut the deficit in half and have unemployment down to 4.5%. Well, either the voting public is stupid twice or the freeloaders outnumber those people who still have a neuron firing.

My solution: Either you take a current events test that you must pass to vote, or, if you didn't pay any federal income taxes, you don't get to vote. Pick one, because the unproductive outnumber the productive people now.

The rise was unexpected but don’t worry, it doesn’t mean anything bad and its still at pre-recession levels. Lord have mercy, Lucia! Talk about spin.

U.S. jobless claims rise unexpectedly, but still at pre-recession levels

They are only at "pre-recession levels" because everyone else has exhausted their benefits and "dropped out of the labor force". Add in the 92.5 million who have dropped out.

More obumbler inspired propaganda.

315,000 new jobless.

But only 125,000 new jobs.

That alone can not go on forever. But add to that all of the kids that enter the job market every month.

Then add to that the hundreds of thousands of illegals sneaking across the border and you have a disaster in the making.

In a few years, we are going to have slums similar to the worst in the third world countries.

Does anyone remember Watts?
