I think Arab Christians prefer Ba’athist regimes — pan-Arab nationalists who until recently kept the murderous enthusiasms of their Muslim subjects against Christians in check, but who, as Arab nationalists were and are also very anti-Israeli.
We threw out one such regime in Iraq for Bush’s demonstration project on creating a democratic republic (which at the time I supported, though I knew, as happened in the end, that it might not work), Obama idiotically (or maliciously) backed the “Arab spring” that overthrew the Egyptian regime, which if no longer formally Ba’athist since the passing of Nassar, was still in the same mold, and Obama was on the point of bombing another in Syria, after destabilizing it by diplomatically backing Islamist rebels. In each case, removing or harming the somewhat thuggish anti-Israeli, but non-Islamist, nationalist regime resulted in persecutions being unleashed against Christians unparalleled since the Armenian genocide.
I agree with you. But they should still recognize that Israel is not the enemy of the Christian.
