The United States hit Russia's largest bank, a major arms maker and arctic, deepwater and shale exploration by its biggest oil companies with new sanctions on Friday to punish Moscow for intervening in Ukraine.

The sanctions target companies including Sberbank, the country's largest bank by assets, and Rostec, a conglomerate that makes everything from Kalashnikovs to cars, by limiting their ability to access the U.S. debt markets.

They will also bar U.S. companies from providing goods or services to help five Russian energy companies conduct deepwater, Arctic offshore and shale projects. The Russian companies affected are Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Lukoil, Surgutneftegas and Rosneft.

The sanctions seek to ban cooperation with Russian oil firms on energy technology and services by companies including Exxon Mobil Corp (XOM.N) and BP Plc (BP.L). [...]

This is stupid. The US and Russian intelligence services should be making a truce on Assad and cooperating on wiping ISIS clean.

Europe won’t have gas this winter, US exploration companies will be hurt, and for what? So Obama can show Putin he’s the bigger man (haha)?

Unless the goal is war between White Privilege America, and White Christian Russia.

Actually, that’s a particularly diabolical thought. The Chinese and the Muslims would inherit the earth, although they wouldn’t share it peacefully for long.

America's population of over 300 million is at least 3 quarters Christian, while Russia's population of less than 150 million is about the same, 3 quarters Christian.

That means there are at least twice as many Christians in the USA as there are in Russia.

Why do you act as if Russia is Christian but the USA is not?

The USA is at least twice as Christian as Russia.

Let's see, Libya, Syria, Ukraine. wonder how many wars McCain might have started if he did win. The only thing he's ever done right was to pick Sarah Palin for his running mate.

Personally I wish McCain had won instead of Obama.

You on the other hand are happy Obama won.

Obama lovers like you make me sick.

Nice try at twisting my words loser but I held my nose and voted for McCain. The last 'republican' I ever thought I would have to. And I voted for Romney, the frikin losers. I might write in Sarah Palin if the put another RINO out there.

We got millions+ Islamists running amok and you're focusing
your misguided hatred on starting a war with a new democratic, Christian, pro family, anti gay, conservative Russia.

Russia would be a strong partner toward saving western civilization as we know it, and it maybe the only way we can succeed.

True, they would fight, and it would be somewhat easier for the Islamist horde, the US and Russia would have been potential allies for China, all of us were allied in WWII.

I believe a critical part of Obama's destroy America strategy is to provoke conflict between the US and Russia.

Russia is about as democratic as Venezuela.

Putin is about as Christian as Robert Mugabe.

Why do you act as if Russia is Christian but the USA is not?

Is US GOVERNMENT and POLICY Christian, or merely three quarters of it numeric population? ...and

Are those Christians allowed to direct government employees (their public "servants"), or do the public "servants" do as they please, telling the Christian conservative majority to go take a flying [censored]?

Still love your screen namesake, Joe, a great guy.
