I’m 61 now and never been in trouble with the law . . . I suspect it is because my dad whipped me and my mom disciplined me with whatever was in reach. I believe that there is a reason that we have punks running the streets - they never knew the love of a parent that refused to spoil the child in preference to sparing the rod.

My grandmother would swat my aunts with the side of her butcher knife if they wouldn't get out of the kitchen. She never cut them but I'm sure if someone tried something like that today, they'd be in jail.
