GRAVES CO., KY -- The Graves County Sheriff's Office is releasing more information about the abduction and murders in Mayfield. A Brookport man is in custody for allegedly killing an ex-girlfriend and her teenage son.
Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says that friends of 34-year-old Kimberley Thomas became concerned when she didn't show up for work Friday morning. They went to check for her at a home on 411 Fairlane Drive. Friends found 17-year-old Michael Eli Mohney lying on the floor. Mohney was the victim of two gunshout wounds.
Kentucky State Police were getting calls around the same time for a possible abduction at a Paducah conveinence store. Video showed a naked woman trying to escape from a white SUV and being pulled back inside.

this is sad as can be... dang it...
Looks like mom picked a bad one to be her boyfriend. She and her son paid the price.
This is sad on so many levels, but above all because it’s n longer unusual for kids to be caught between their mothers and “boyfriends” their mothers have brought into their lives. It’s yet another indication of where the breakdown of the American family is leading us.
you do realize that these “boyfriends” are probably ex husbands of other women and fathers of other children?....
Why bother being a “husband” . . . unless, of course, you’re going with another guy . . . then it makes all the difference on earth.
I saw this tragic story, and when I searched for more info, a bunch of similar stories popped up: teenage boys who end up the victims while protecting their moms.
Just heartbreaking. One can understand why a teen would jump in. But, I’d bet most moms would prefer their sons (and daughters) run for help. We’d rather you saved yourselves, your siblings, etc.
The killer was a really big dude, too. He probably could have readily killed the kid with his bare hands, unless the boy knew martial arts or had a firearm and some training.
I’m guessing the boy woke up to a fight and reacted instinctively, and bravely, but, “had no chance”. Indeed, if he had gone for help, assuming he could get out, he’d be alive, and the police could have responded much more effectively / quickly, possibly even saving his Mom. Still, I try to put myself in that situation: How could I possibly leave my Mom to this monster?
We don’t know all the awful details, of course, so what is left is prayers for the boy and his Mom, and the family. And... though my own family’s situation is nothing like this, it does make me more determined that my family be able to defend themselves if I am taken out, or not home.
Amen, Paul R.
It sounds like this teen was a good kid. Based on the mom’s age, she must’ve been 17 herself when she had him. Just a heartbreaking story. I hope justice is served somehow.
