You are assuming that Obama wants it to end differently. Isis wants to overthrow Assad, so does Obama and the islamists that he wants to fund. This training has nothing to do with fighting isis, it is to help isis. Claiming the opposite is just to give him cover.

McCain tried to arrange arming the rebels but truth of the rebels being murderous thugs shut him down. Now, using ISIS as an excuse/distraction they will overthrow Assad like they did with other mid-east nations. As someone has already pointed out, these rebels aren’t going to bother with ISIS but they might succeed at putting the Muslim Brotherhood in Syria as this administration and the globalists have been scheming to achieve. Now all they have to do is revisit Egypt, assassinate Sisi and reinstall Morsi, voila Caliphate and New World Order.

This is idiotic. We’ve become embroiled in a conflict that has been going on so long that folks in Washington don’t know which side they’re on anymore. This would be an excellent time to remind the voters, less than 60 days out from the midterms, how this all started, because it is ALL the fault of the incompetence of democrats, and their childish veiwpoints of the world in which we live. Jimmy Carter failed to support the Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi, in the late 1970s, which led to the overthrow of Iran, a major US ally during the Cold War. This reqired the US to create a counterbalance in the region, which led to the rise of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, who in turn had to be destroyed. During the 1990s, the US was repeatedly attacked around the globe by homicidal jihadists, which Clinton refused to address, because like all leftists, his primary goal was to destroy his domestic adversaries, regardless of the consequences. The one thing that Clinton did do, was that for the first time in history, a western superpower had taken the side of moslems (Bosnia), against fellow Christians, in a war for control of a region that was primarily Christian. Clinton’s refusal to confront these maniacs led to their escalating bold attacks, resulting in the attack on September 11, 2001. It was ALL Clinton’s fault, yet he gets none of the blame. In fact, he looks to return to the WH as his wife runs for POTUS. Ridiculous beyond comprehension, yet here we are. We now have another weak-kneed leftist running the country, who has declared that the War on Terror is over, which it is most obviously not, and who has actually taken the side of these murderers, and the political left has made such an incomprehensible mess out of US foreign policy, they haven’t the slightest clue which side we’re on, or should be on. If the adults ever return to running the country, it will take decades to straighten out the pile of excrement these opportunistic morons have made.
I think our training is a waste if time...we “trained” the Iraqi army to fight terrorists for about $3 billion! All they did was hand the key to the Humvee to ISIS.

Assad is just as evil as any Islamist (plus he’s allied with Hezbollah, our first Islamic enemy), so there is no need to work with either Assad or the FSA. The only trustworthy (and competent) faction in Syria are the Kurdish fighters, if we HAD to support anyone in Syria, its them! But the mission of destroying ISIS should primarily involve air support, spec ops, and intelligence assets. This 5,000 men per year training goal is a joke, not enough bodies to work with, even if these guys were Ranger quality!
There is no such thing as moderate rebels. What a joke.
