The lack of planning by Scots? Yeah, that’s like trying to find sheep up there.

The Tories need to pull out everything if separation passes. You want out? You’re out. Alas, that isn’t the usual way with the UK — Rhodesia threw out the British rule, and the UK led the fight to crush Rhodesia and usher in the Zimbabwe fiasco, because Rhodesia had not left the right way.

Of course there are. They are the strongest advocates of separation. Just by a weird coincidence, if the separation goes through, Scotland will offer more welfare bennies with no wait to any and all comers.

No gov’t apparatus in place? That is a shame. Unlimited and expanded welfare and socialist medicine? Oh sure, that’ll work

Once the place is flooded with muzzie dole-suckers, we’ll see actual Scots emigrate into England, Ireland, and of course the United States. Scotland will turn into more of a Eurabian hell-hole more quickly than any place in history.

Too many Brits long and short, will allow this to happen. Too deep in the country. It is nice to ponder, though. Good for them, that are.

4. They want open border.

5. They want no waiting period for immigrants to get benefits.

So, essentially the Scots are attempting to simply carve out their own Labor Party enclave.... and a bigger share of the muslim infestation.

Western countries seem to have this common death wish of perishing at the hands of invaders.

“Why would this be? There are two reasons. First, smaller countries are often more responsive to their people. The smaller the country the stronger the policy feedback loop. Meaning truly awful ideas tend to get corrected earlier.”

If you read the complete article another reason is inferred although not stated. That reason being; small countries live and prosper under the security blanket of larger countries and little or no cost to themselves.

That makes sense too.

Also, if the UK has a lot receiving welfare, there would be less to pay too. I am not sure of the dynamics of the UK or Scotland.

I think that’s the deciding factor. I think Scotland will easily survive split from Britain, but I worry about Britain and her substantial disgruntled Muslim population.

right on....I can see a million or so Brits moving out of Scotland, with the various companies leaving, employment will be a big problem....

it’s not just the employees, it’s the computer systems and databases

eg, let walk thru the steps of setting up an income tax:

-need a list of all taxpayers with their names, addresses and employers names and addresses: HM Revenue has that, supposed they are hard asses and won’t give it (now what, do you start going thru the phone book? voters list?)
-need a unique identifier for both taxpayers and businesses: HM Revenue has a taxpayer identifier, suppose they won’t share that database (now you need to set up a Social Security number registry)

ok so now we need a social security number registry. that number would be an identifier for payroll tax, nhs, unemployment etc. as well

creating a social security number registry would require all 5+ million scottish residents to turn up at a government office with their paper birth certificates, & have them data captured: what offices? captured by which employees? on what computer system?

and, we also need an employer registry as well...

that’s just one program...

1—As I have said in the other Mohammed name threads, this name only pops into top 100’s with all variants, something you can do with any name.

2—76000 out of 5.5m. I am not breaking out the family claymore quite yet.

Fat chance, a ‘free’ Scotland would be even more immigration friendly.

No thanks, those of us who are Scots (and British) have pondered it. And rejected it.

Yes, I’m aware of all that. Still, France was/is worse and they are reversing themselves right and left as they run up against the hard realities of math.

If (when) independent they will learn that they cannot run a country like that without failure (a la Greece) .... so a good lesson for everyone in the world.
