“by the way Smith has always Fought the GOPe”

Bob Smith has always been about Bob Smith, and when he “fought the GOPe” he also fought conservative Republicans. Remember when he left the GOP to run for president for some made-up party with 0.1% support? Gave a big speech in the Senate floor blasting the GOP Senate that had approved much of the Contract with America. But then John Chafee died and the chairmanship of the Environment and Public Works Committee became available, and he quickly crawled back to the GOP and claimed the chairmanship. Smith then did a 180 on policy and became a full-throated environmentalist radical on the committee—it was as if Chafee had taken over Smith’s body. Smith turned into such a RINO that John Sununu ran to his right in the 2002 GOP Senate primary and beat him handily. Smith then made his conversion to liberal extremism complete when he endorsed JOHN F’N KERRY FOR PRESIDENT in 2004 over George W. Bush. Kerry had been a 100% liberal over his 20 years in the Senate, and your “fighting conservative” Smith decided that Kerry was the man that America needed in the White House. So if you think that Bob Smith is some sort of conservative while Kelly Ayotte is a RINO, then we can safely ignore your claims of John Stephens being a RINO.

I would have rather that the NH GOP nominate a solid conservative with the experience and profile needed to win a Senate election in the state, but unfortunately NO SUCH CANDIDATE RAN IN THE PRIMARY. Scott Brown is far less conservative than what I would prefer, but (i) his U.S. Senate voting record isn’t quite as bad as you remember (a Mass. Democrat who even hinted of voting like Brown did would be drawn and quartered by the Kennedys), (ii) he’s more conservative than his U.S. Senate voting record, and will demonstrate it when he represents NH and doesn’t have to worry about facing a MA electorate, and (iii) he actually has the skills and background required to beat the 95% liberal Shaheen in a general election. So Scott Brown was the best choice among the candidates on the NH ballot, and apparently a majority of NH Republicans agreed with my assessment.

I hope that the NH GOP starts building up a farm system by electing young conservatives to prominent office—Guinta and Garcia getting elected to Congress would be a good start. That way, future GOP Senate primaries in NH will give conservatives a viable choice for the nomination. But the 2014 Senate primary did not present such a choice, and if you thought that Bob Smith was a viable conservative then I don’t think that you know what either of those words mean.

Thanks for the opinion. the thread you presented quite well showes exactly that Smith always fought the GOPe..even by endorsing Kerry... There was no TEA Party back then... Do I like everything Smith has done...no. But I certainly have a longer list of negatives about Scoot Brown, D Carpet bagger from mAss..

Brown - Pro Gun Control, Pro Assault Weapons Ban, Smart Gun Advocate (GDSI stock). Pro-Gay, Pro Abortion.. How does that jive with the NH GOP Platform? Read it some time and tell me why you would vote for Brown?

Smith is a kook but at least he was not supporting any of the items noted above that Brown is clearly in support of. Look at the reasons and context to what and why Smith ranted and raved... he is not that crazy and he was willing to step out on a limb and shake his fist at the GOPe.

As for your view on Brown, I disagree with you that Brown will show to be a conservative to NH voters... In fact I fully suspect after the 16 election cycle if by a long shot Brown is in the Senate, he will jump ship and make Arlen Spector look normal and Jeffords to be a saint. If you trust Brown to look after the NH Republican Party Platform and for one NY second, give any NH conservative any consideration, then you do not understand Scoot Brown, Carpet bagger from mAss. He will make Judd Gregg look conservative by comparison... and that is pretty hard to accomplish.

So how is Ayotte doing? Ovide would have been a much better Senator... If you ever get a chance to spend a few mins with Ovide or Craig Benson ask them about the NH GOP “leadership” . I see John Stephens is really working out well for us? Whoo hoo Mr. Stephens where are you? Hello...

As to your comment about the NH GOP.... ha! Nice idea, detached from reality. Have you been a local republican party chair or been involved with the NH GOP? I have... Till Old man Sununu assumes room temperature and the open primary is still law, an honest conservative in NH making it past a primary will be impossible. The NH Conservative has two battles to fight, the NH GOP pushing the RINO and the NH Democrat Party, primary vote bombing the GOP primary ballots so the weak RINO is elected every time. Sadly the NH GOP fights conservative with more vigor and resolve than they do Democrats.. and that is how NH has a pro gun control, pro abortion, pro gay rights Republican Candidate for Senator, Scoot Brown -D, Carpet bagger from mAss. The liberals won the primary and have candidates on both tickets... brilliant! Way to go NH GOP!

“So Scott Brown was the best choice among the candidates on the NH ballot, and apparently a majority of NH Republicans & Democrats that register as Independent’s and vote for the WEAK, Liberal RINO candidates in the primaries agreed with my assessment” There, fixed it for you!

I just read your tag line.... your lecturing about Brown is even more irrelevant! Brown is full on Pro Abortion/Baby Killer! Dang, you can’t even align your politics with your tag line! hahaha, no wonder Conservatives in NH get no wheres fast!

Here I will help you: If a politician won’t protect innocent babies, what makes you think that he’ll defend your rights, UNLESS its the NH GOPe choice and the Union Leader has endorsed them, then its OK to trust them while killing babies and we might get Harry Reid out as Majority Leader.

Till you change your tag line you are Scott Brown and the NH GOPe to me... You just negotiated your ethical and moral stance away to cast a vote for a Pro Abortion candidate.
