The wife of U.S. Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.) filed for divorce yesterday, one day after she called police to the couple's Alexandria home and told them that her husband had grabbed her and pushed her during an argument.
But Mary Moran said in an interview that she agrees with the decision of Alexandria authorities not to file charges against her husband. She also said it was the first such altercation in their 11- year marriage.
Alexandria police said they were called to the Morans' home at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday. After hearing their conflicting versions of what had happened, the police officer at the scene did not believe there was cause to make an arrest, Police Chief Charles E. Samarra said.

What a Moran
We could play devil’s advocate and think like lib/prog types like James Moron and fellow wife beater Alan Shrek Grayson, these asshats are White, Ray Rice is Black, why is Rice being punished (deservedly so, BTW) while these two, duly elected officials at that, are given a free pass, HMMM? I would think Sharpton would blow a head gasket over this.

That said, now I see where Jr. gets his ungentlemanly manner from.
I know our local police chief once told us that the force spends most of it’s time on domestic abuse cases instead of traffic stops or anything else.
They assumed that they were walking into a domestic battle. You’d think they’d wait to make that judgement depending on what they found. I don’t expect cops to be rocket scientists but I bet the average hamburger flipper could make that call better than your police did.
Moran is one of those hardcore wingnut leftard types, along the lines of Alan Grayson. He occasionally spews out crap that’s beyond outlandish, just for the sake of getting attention.
That being said. The fact is that HE did manhandle her. In most instances, regardless of the desire of the spouse to pursue charges, it is SOP to have the party removed from the home, even if it is to the local Motel 6 or park bench for a cooling off period.
I smell special treatment, that is all.
Here’s an idea for Moron, instead of handing out Moran for Congress bumperstickers why not have his picture emblazoned on...what else... WIFE BEATER t-shirts.
The city was conflicted over this. The mayor removed him from office, but Mirkarimi sued to get his job back.
The city has since moved on from this, but are now wrapped up in the San Francisco 49ers case of Ray McDonald.
I guess it's different because McDonald isn't a liberal Democrat politician.

I guess you’re right. They did say they were on my doorstep because my father could not get me on the phone. But pretty stupid to assume that meant my husband was beating me! I was just happy they didn’t shoot the dog.

Moran also got some limited press for beating up an elementary school kid. And then was reelected six or seven times.
I’m pretty proud to have been kicked out of the little Irish gift shop on the Irish Walk in Alexandria. Moran walked (perhaps stumbled) past and I asked my wife, somewhat loudly, “Look, there’s Moran. Is he on his way to beat up some kid, or his wife?”
It’s been obvious for years that Moran has real anger management issues.
