To: what's up

I don’t agree. There would be the same outcome no matter when we leave ... same thing is going to happen in Afghanistan.

Are we to stay there for 50-100 years?

Because 100 years from now it will be NO DIFFERENT.

It has been like this in Islamic countries (and the countries and other cultures they interact with) for over 600 years. We are not going to change behavior in these places no matter how long we stay.

So OK we can say we should have stayed a bit longer ... but I truly do not believe that it would have made one bit of difference.

Tell you what ... Why don’t we poll military who have served in these regions (not the top brass) and see what they think? I would be willing to bet that the vast majority agree with me. I know many personally who say the same thing.

Same thing was said about Turkey before WW1. Then they lost and modernization has taken place. Notice Turkey much in the headlines these days? No. That's because they lost and we won. If the West had not taken action and the young turks had won the day the world would now look much different.
