A New York Times/CBS News poll shows that President Obama’s approval ratings are similar to those of President George W. Bush in 2006 when Democrats swept both houses of Congress in the midterm elections.

....

At just 34 percent, the rating of Mr. Obama’s handling of foreign policy is a record low for him, but not as low as the 25 percent that Mr. Bush eventually reached. At 41 percent, Mr. Obama’s rating on terrorism is not only his worst personally, but is significantly lower than Mr. Bush in 2006. This is the first time Mr. Obama’s numbers have shown that at least 50 percent disapprove of his handling of the issue.

Didn’t realize Bush bashing reduced his polling to 25%.

And that is with a 100% in the tank media who not only fawn over him, but report nothing negative either. Imagine if the gave him the bush treatment, non stop negative and derision and mocking, where the news would villify something bush would do, that they would have sang praises and had spontaneous parades had Clinton done it.

This may be the national mood, but the state races are not reflecting this.

Part of the reason his approval rating were so low was that Bush would not defend himself; he would not fight back.
Clearly the fault with Katrina lay with the mayor of New Orleans and the Governor, not Bush.

Time again he never counter attacked. He acted like he was a willing punching bag for the rats.

They may well be. Nobody’s concentrating on the local races. It will be very interesting to see what happens in the state legislatures.

Remember, too, this is a NY Slimes poll.

An honest poll would have the Dear Reader even lower.
