It is not just Ebola that can get you killed.

At least 8 Ebola aid workers reportedly killed 'in cold blood' by villagers in Guinea

"At least eight Ebola aid workers and journalists were reportedly murdered and dumped in a latrine in a remote village in Guinea in a frightening example of the growing distrust locals have of foreigners coming to help stem the mushrooming health crisis."

I think about what will happen in some of our own large urban centers if we ever got hit with a disease like Ebola.

I use to be able to convince myself that stories like this could never happen in the US, now I’m not so sure.

This article illustrates why the current ebola outbreak will have to burn itself out and cannot really be contained.

Deeply held ignorant beliefs, superstition, and backwardness will win out over science and reason every time. These people cannot be helped.

It is virtually impossible to save people from themselves if they don't want to be saved.

These people need to get over their Lady Bountiful fetish and stay home.

Seal Africa off and let this run its course.

I agree and I don't know why these do gooders keep trying. When will they get it? Third worlders don't want our help. Let them live the way they want to. I'm done worrying about it.

“It is virtually impossible to save people from themselves if they don’t want to be saved”.
This sounds like the philosophy of our current regime and unfortunately a good number of us have bought the philosophy.

I’m in awe of the dedicated people that expend their lives trying to help in Africa. I sadly admit that if it were up to me, the continent would be cordoned off and ignored until it either got its act together, or became unpopulated from the disease, starvation, and warlords wiping each others tribes out.

And decrease the surplus population...

Murdered and dumped in a latrine. That seems a bit harsh for people who were there ostensibly to assist them. Note to self: Cancel trip to Africa to help those “folks”.

Sub-Sahara Africa is where you talk about. North Africa (where my father served in WWII, then in Anzio) is Arab and Muslim. They ARE different than the sub-Saharan Africans.
Egypt is a MUCH visited place by world tourists. We went there twice when we lived in the KSA when we worked for ARAMCO. We loved Egypt.

However, what you say about sub-Sahara Africa rings true for me as well.

These people cannot be helped.

But according to our leaders and our State Dept, they can be given "diversity visas."
