Anti-Coal Policies Causing Florida Electricity Rate Hikes
Media Trackers ^ | August 26, 2014 | James Taylor

Duke Energy seeks nearly $2 million in Florida electricity rate hikes to pay for a new power plant made necessary by environmental restrictions. The electricity rate hikes became necessary as environmental restrictions force the closing of two coal power plants providing Floridians with inexpensive electricity.

...

Aided by $10 million in campaign spending by billionaire liberal activist Tom Steyer, the Charlie Crist campaign is hammering Gov. Rick Scott for not imposing still more stringent power plant restrictions, above and beyond those imposed by the federal government. Steyer and Crist say Florida should impose state-specific power plant restrictions that would close more coal power plants in an effort to fight global warming. Others, however, point out that Florida accounts for just 1 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions and any costly reductions in Florida emissions will have no discernible impact on global temperatures. Global temperature measurements show there has been no global warming during the past 17 years.

Idjits on parade. Any power production to replace coal fired plants, will without doubt double the price of electricity and allow the coal to be sold for a higher price to foreign buyers. All in the name of what? Global warming or just global stupidity. There can be no other reason, unless these boys are getting a cut and the American people are getting the shaft.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

If Scott isn’t hammering Crist on this point, his campaign is brain-dead.

My electric bill in Florida last month was $515, 3,00 SF with one central A/C.

People with slightly smaller homes are paying $350-400.

Welcome to California. Mine was $628 last month. We have had rates like these for years although that is the highest one we’ve ever gotten.

Wow

I had another house I was renting. Put it up for sale, it was unoccupied for about two months.

Even with nobody living there and the A/C turned off, they were sending me bills of over $200 a month.

Yeah ours is $200 even in the winter when we use mostly gas. Nobody here but hubby and me and I have done everything I can to keep the electric bill down. They just keep going up.

“Duke Energy seeks nearly $2 million in Florida electricity rate hikes to pay for a new power plant.”

Considering that there are about 20 Million people in Florida, I think the people there can pony-up the 10 cents each (once) needed to build their $2 Million power plant.
