It's MUCH higher in Silicon Valley, but at least we all make things people depend on, want to use, and willingly pay for...unlike Wash DC where they steal your money with a gun to your head to pay for stuff you don't want or just plain give your money to deadbeat rioting scum.

Bay Area, powered by South Bay, produces strongest job gains since dot-com era

In a hiring surge that rivaled the peaks of the dot-com boom, the Bay Area in August saw its strongest single month of job gains since at least early 2000 -- an increase of nearly 23,000 jobs -- fueled by a huge upswing in tech employment in Santa Clara County, state labor officials reported Friday.
The jump in employment banished fears among analysts that the remarkable employment boom in the Bay Area in recent years was about to sputter and come to a halt. Before the August gains in Santa Clara County, that region had lost jobs for three straight months.
"This was a great month for the Bay Area," said Jordan Levine, director of economic research with Beacon Economics. "Santa Clara County is still one of the leaders in job growth in California, and California is a leader in job growth nationwide."
Employers added 22,700 jobs in the Bay Area in August, the state's Employment Development Department reported. Santa Clara County added 13,600 jobs, the San Francisco-San Mateo-Marin region gained 5,500 jobs and the East Bay added 2,200. All the numbers were adjusted for seasonal changes.
The employment gains in the Bay Area and Santa Clara County were the strongest on record for a single month, according to this newspaper's analysis of seasonally adjusted employment figures from the EDD that stretch back to January 2000.

If you want rewarding work and have good skills, you can do a lot worse than Silicon Valley. The biggest problem, of course, is housing cost.
