Will Tea Party, GOP establishment be 'mending fences' to win Senate in November?
Fox News ^ | September 20, 2014

Posted on 09/20/2014 8:02:38 PM PDT by Din Maker

After a long, unapologetic effort to defeat Tea Party candidates in GOP primaries, the Washington establishment will likely need Tea Party voters in November to help swing several tight Senate races and win control of the upper chamber.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee on Friday dismissed the notion that party voters are not united behind their candidates. “Can you point to a race … ? It’s a false narrative,”

Kevin Broughton, spokesman for the Tea Party Patriots singled out a few races, particularly in Kansas and Mississippi, but suggested his troops will rally for the general election.

Broughton said they will focus on such grassroots efforts as get-out-the-vote, instead of buying TV or other media spots.

All six Republican senators who faced promising Tea Party-backed challenges won their primaries, including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who in March boldly predicted he and the rest of the Washington establishment would “crush” far-right advocacy groups and their candidates.

“I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country,” the five-term Kentucky Republican told The New York Times.

The other wins came in Mississippi, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Kansas, where the NRSC helped incumbent GOP Sen. Pat Roberts to victory with more than 40,000 phone calls in the final three weeks of his campaign.

In Mississippi, Tea Party-backed candidate Chris McDaniel forced GOP incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran -- who had strong inside-the-beltway financial and grassroots support -- into a runoff to retain his seat.

Politico described the contest as “a flashpoint in the GOP civil war.

I agree completely. The problem is all the cheshire conservatives determined to forward the march of liberalism from within. And that is exactly what every ‘freeper’ mouthing the ‘no matter what’ meme is doing. Forwarding the march of liberalism.

They sure as hell arent forwarding conservatism.

Has situational ethics been in your box of tools long or is it a recent addition?

You seem to be advocating that conservatives continue to elect liberal republican for the sole sake of not electing liberal democrats who govern identically.

That implies that victory rather than principle guides you.

Since conservatism and liberalism are incompatible, it it logically follows that a person doing do bases his ethical choices on winning rather than principle. thus, situational ethics.

Simple really.

Now are you saying we should elect GOPe RINOS who govern like Democrats or not?

I am saying that we need to replace RINO's, but not at any cost. I think that destroying the GOP would leave an open field to the Marxist/democrats to finish what Obama has started.

A senate majority of republicans may or may not do much to stop Obama but it would probably be better than having Harry Reid loading up the courts any further.

I favor adding as many solid conservatives as we can muster to replace the democrats and the get along republicans.

I think that other than the trolls we all have the same goals. The best way to do that is to keep increasing our influence from within the GOP. I would however love to see McConnell sent home this time. He is the leader of the RINOs and it would send a message to all of them.

I know the level of frustration is very high amongst conservatives and the urge to lash out is strong. But, I have found out the hard way that those urges usually lead to rash judgments.

You either replace them or you empower them. There is no third option. Schrodinger’s Cat isn’t a politician. We have a documented history over 30 years showing that returning Rinos to power increases liberalism in government. Conservatives, by definition, reject liberalism in any form. You can either continue to increase liberalism in government or not. Binary.

If you make the public, conscious choice to support rinos who are documented to increase liberalism in government, it logically follows that you, as their agent of empowerment (your vote and support for liberals in public) is responsible for the increase of liberalism in government. You do not get to hide behind the ‘R’. The ‘R’ does not stand for ‘Race Card”. The “R” does not stand as a universal excuse. A liberal is what his actions of liberalism show him/her to be.

You can either renounce support for liberals or you can embrace it. Either way. Your choice. Remember though that there is no possible or accepted definition of conservatism that includes support for liberals regardless of what party they claim. Because words mean things to everyone except liberals who see no inherent contradiction in lying to themselves.

Dole, McCain and Romney

That did not work out very well either.

Everyone wants to have their own special excuse to keep sending liberals to DC if hey have the cover of “R”. Their egos demand that they not admit they were wrong and that they enabled todays mess. Most all of us are guilty. Myself included. But many of us had the guts to call OURSELVES on our BS and stop the madness.

The problem remains that many of those who refuse to admit their mistakes are gonna double down and push more liberals on us all while claiming the safety of “R”.

They are no different from the wife going back for another beating or the person giving the addict heroin.

Enablers.

The primaries are theater for the voters, but the outcomes are clearly bought.

Maybe not bought outright, but both parties have learned that they can control the primary outcomes by soliciting a stalking horse Libertarian candidate to split the disaffected vote, allowing the GOPe candidate to win.

That will be the nature of all future elections.

Conversely if you choose to not support the RINO you are supporting the Marxist by default. If that is my two choices, I choose the slow road to hell rather than the express. Maybe we can save the country in the meantime.

Obviously we would both choose a principled conservative if we had that option.

DO IT, with the full expectation that the restraints the states will pass are going to be resisted, ignored and struck down by a lawless government oligarchy...

You cannot strike down a Constitutional amendment as unconstitutional.

If one openly flouts it, such as a term limit or state appointment of new Senators, then we all must admit to a total dissolution of the entire government structure.

We cannot demand the ignoring of an Article V Constitutionally passed amendment and still demand fealty to Article I or II elites.

At that point, it all stays or it all goes, including honoring the decisions of the courts and the compelling of the payments of taxes.

That is the line that the elites must be made to know not to cross.

We have seen MANY ways in which the Oligarchy has been successful in making the Constitution irrelevant and of no effect upon imposing its agenda.

Do not underestimate what tyrants with an agenda are able and willing to do to ensure their power is not threatened or restrained.

If one openly flouts it, such as a term limit or state appointment of new Senators, then we all must admit to a total dissolution of the entire government structure.

Only a few will admit it. As long as there is beer, cable, EBT cards and porn - the majority can care less what our government becomes as long as they get a subsidy.

At that point, it all stays or it all goes, including honoring the decisions of the courts and the compelling of the payments of taxes.

That is the line that the elites must be made to know not to cross.

Now you are getting somewhere. However, where you and I differ is that I believe we are already at that point given what we learned of the IRS scandal alone. I suggest the federal government has rendered itself as no longer having any legitimate authority over us.

They no longer have any moral authority to govern us, all they have is the power of a gun to our heads to rule us, and that my FRiend is where I think we have arrived.

Those have been limited to the balance of power between the branches, such as with recess appointments, passing budgets vs. continuing resolutions, executive regulations vs. legislation, etc.

I'm talking about authorizing power amendments, such as term limits or repealing the 17th amendment. One cannot easily ignore those Article V outcomes without threatening the entire Constitutional construct.

If they do mend their fences, is their any reason to believe they won't tear them right back down as soon as it's convenient?

Past experiences says it's a short trip from being on the bandwagon to being under the bus.

True. But they will, and it would be wise to discuss and figure out that inevitability.

On this corner, wearing the transparent trunks under the flabby midsections, are the polo clubs, the yacht clubs, ABCSeeBSNBCCNNMSNBCNYTimesChicagoTribuneWaPo, PS 666, the Union League, the Junior League , that ever popular government, the ghost of organized labor and the graveyard vote in Chicago.

AND in the opposite corner, in red, white and blue trunks, we have Rush, Sean, Mark, and radio talk generally, people who work with their hands for a living, most churches, fraternal organizations, pro-lifers, the normally married, gun folks, veterans, military personnel and the rest of the dispossessed American majority.

The internet is neutral but we love it because we have uncontrolled access to which we are not accustomed. Liberals have it too but they take access for granted. Of course, liberalism is a mental illness (thank you Michael Savage!) and liberals don't get as much bang for their buck.

You strike me as either an awful pessimist or as a cheerleader for RINO government. It is not sensible to expect success by electing a patriot here and a sensible candidate there while Wall Street $$$$$ takes its toll in primaries nominating windtunnel fools and actual publicly identified Demonrats have occasional successful election cycles (usually due to the RINOs getting caught with their covetous greedy $$$$$ obsessed paws in the cookie jar as usual).

You apparently missed the fact that there is an enraged public and that part of what enrages them is "Republican" leaders who offer NOTHING as an alternative to Obamunism. The faux "Republicans" think that they are avoiding controversy by supporting what Obozo supports only a smidgeon less of it. The spineless "Republicans" don't care about mountains of dead babies, about the destruction of marriage, about gun confiscation, about nosy government intrusions on our telephone calls and internet communications, IRS harassment of ordinary citizens suspected of not worshipping Obozo reflexively, eyc., etc., etc.

Instead of spending God knows how many more decades mud wrestling against Wall Street's zillions of $$$$ for control of the GOP and wasting our time, what might we do instead?

Home school children wherever possible. Someone has to lead the next generation and it may as well be our kids. Can't homeschool them? Send them to parent-controlled academies with sound curricula. Resist government skewel spending. We do not need to fund football, basketball, marching bands, junior years in Europe (some CT schools do that one at taxpayer expense), expensive social events and expensive extracurricular programs out the wazoo. We DO need educational attainment and excellence in Mathematics, Sciences, Literature, Grammar, Modern Languages, Latin and Greek, History, Great Books, Classical Literature, Shakespeare, O. Henry and Saki, Vergil and Xenophon and Cicero and Homer, Theology (whatever flavor you prefer) and Morality. This was done in Jesuit prep schools in the recent past (fifty years ago) and it is do-able now. The graduates will OWN their government schooled academic contemporaries. REMOVE each and every child from government schooling (other than the one where verga teaches in rural Virginia). Arrange substitute activities to make up for loss of extracurriculars. Have the kids compete with all kids in Academic Bowl type competitions and dominate.

Young or old or anywhere in between, educate yourself by reading a conservative canon of books. Examples: Economics: von Hayek, von Mises, Friedman, Adam Smith. American History: James I. Robertson, Paul Johnson, David McCullough, Steven Ambrose, Ladislas Farago. Math: Saxon Math, all of it. Religion (I am a Catholic): All of the Old Testament and New Testament, Pascendi Domenici Gregis and Lamentabile Sane (both by Pope St. Pius X), Rerum Novarum by Pope Leo XIII, Malachi Martin, Blessed Fulton Sheen, Saint John Paul II, St. Augustine, St. John of the Cross, Francis Schaeffer (not Catholic but very Christian), Hillaire Belloc, G. K. Chesterton, C. S. Lewis (not Catholic but very Christian) and Rabbi Menachem Schneerson (the late Rebbe of the very sizeable Lubavitcher group of Chassidic Orthodox Jews).

Add other works of similar weight and interest in other subjects. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: Gulag Archipelago, Cancer Ward and just about anything else, Paul Johnson, just about anything, Robert Remini on Andrew Jackson, Samuel Eliot Morrison on the Age of Discovery, American History generally, on John Paul Jones, on the US Navy in WWII, etc.

Teach the young to write persuasively, argue cogently, handle Robert's Rules for public and organizational meetings, recruit others, organize movement activity and to punish their enemies.

Learn and teach reliable sources of news and history and morality. Encourage young people to consider careers as clerics, teachers, officeholders, newspaper writers, editorialists, TV and radio reporters, attorneys, political staff, educrats, writers of popular entertainment and novels, and other relevant professions.

Teach everyone of us the habit of refusing to compromise or to put on a happy face for its own sake, train in the use of firearms and reloading and the use of wilderness resources.

old browser:

Meaningful differences between Myth Romney and Obozo on issues that really matter (not $$$$ issues for the ruling class), differences on gun grabbing, baby-killing, marriage destruction, military, foreign policy, job creation, simply do not exist. With Obozo, you get Marxism inflicted on everyone. Under Romney, you get Marxism imposed upon everyone but his peers in the upper upper upper class.

Muffie's trust fund is not an issue over which to wage war. We will get to the Demonrats when we are ready for that war. Meanwhile, we prepare for that war by eliminating the greedheads who buy Republican nominations, within the party or by destroying the GOP with a new party. The Myth Romneys and the Thurston Howells can lead (in a broad conservative direction on ALL issues), follow or get the hell out of the way. If they do not surrender soon, then we should add their hard financial punishment to the litany of conservative issues that must be pursued. If they keep on waging class warfare against conservatives, then they have no complaint coming when conservatives respond in kind against them.

You do not have principled conservative options because of the obscene amounts of money that the pampered princes of privilege carpetbombing the airwaves with lies, propaganda and other ads.

We need to exclude all but at least one year registered Republicans from voting in GOP primaries, and develop a consciousness among GOP voters that the expenditure of obscene amounts of privileged cash on behalf of the hopelessly RINO greedheads should be seen as the moral equivalent of mass child molesting. People must be induced to say: I shall never vote for someone like Romney whose only qualification is spending other people's money. Where did it come from and what did he promise in order to receive it? As to my vote, now or ever, NO SALE!

According to your absence of logic, not voting RINO means voting Marxist by default. I also did not vote for Obozo. Does that mean that I voted RINO by default? in that event, according to you, by voting neither RINO nor Marxist, I voted both RINO and Marxist. You are one seriously confused dude. Neither I nor anyone else owe our vote to any political party that sees fit to nominate candidates who are beneath contempt, lower than whale sh*t.

ROTFL!

YOU missed *Nextrush’s example of Canada sending Lefties packing after handing them a few general election losses, and I’m “proposing chaos”?

I choose not to pull the lever for your own RINOS FOREVER candidates, and I’m “proposing chaos”?

LOL! How dramatic!

If you can get THERE from HERE, on my intention to dump RINOS, then you are on a fast horse to Hell anyway and there is no catching you before you reach the cliff’s edge.

I believe you to be a perfect and *deserving* example of what it means that, “God allows us the leaders we *deserve*”.

Mostly you are a coward. Partly you are an elitist socialist who damn well likes other socialists, and definitly a prop for the Leftward movement of the “R” Party its verbose wing of the RINOS FOREVER cult.

What you don’t know is that economic collapse can’t be avoided and will itself invites chaos and anarchy, so you can preen then about how smart you think you are now, back when you had the chance to try, but sat on your @$$ recommending to others to sit on theirs. LOL!

Deserve away, *oldbowser. Deserve away.
